Probably has nothing to do with money.
Should be looking for a starting job. This contract won't be earth shattering but he needs to find the situation that will get him to his next contract in the best shape. He also wouldn't want to sign long term.

Exactly. I'm going to assume the people here who cry foul on what he is doing have never had to really "market themselves" for a job. If you take what you are given the first round, when will you ever progress or find something better?

Re: Victor Butler leaves Philly - No Contract offer

He and his agent clearly like to be wined and dined, and who wouldn't?!

I think it's smart for him to look at all the alternatives to avoid potentially committing to a multi-year offer that'd take him to a place where he wouldn't be happy longterm.

I hope he does sign with the Saints if the FO really feel like he's worth it, but I won't hold a grudge any which way he chooses.

Can't. blame a guy for exploring all of his options. He should have a real good idea of his market value and we should see a decision soon

Re: Victor Butler leaves Philly - No Contract offer

The guy has been in the league 4 years and looking for the first significant contract of his career. While there are other factors he needs to weigh, let's not kid ourselves... it's all about the money. For some reason, he's gotten some hype this offseason and obviously wants and should capitalize on it. For all of these teams, there's a starting job to be had. All are big cities and the only real dump is Cleveland where he's rumored to go to the most.

He's going to the highest bidder.

Re: Victor Butler No Contract signed: Saints Browns Eagles

Too bad...............I thought that Butler would fit in well here. But then again I thought Nnamdi would fit in here too. Bottom line.......wait and see who is willing to pay these guys more than the rest of their suitors.
