Injuries for Sunday
As for Howard, it sure would be bad for him to not play this year and have his value decrease. I love Darren, but I hope Will Smith doesn't let me think about him for a second on Sunday. Sorry if these injuries have been posted; didn't feel like scrollin'. |

This is Will Smith\'s chance to REALLY shine. If he tears it up out there, look for the Saints to be dangling Howard on the trade block.

Injuries for Sunday
I meant they should hang onto him for most of the season to ensure that Smith will work out, because I don\'t think they can put the franchise tag on him again this year and if they don\'t do something by the end of the season all is lost.

no team at this point will trade due to their salary and roster management let alone they know he will be free at the end of the year. It would have to happen soon and would have to be a team that loses their DE to injury and believes this is their year....basicly we aren\'t going to get anything from losing howard except the ability to keep Deuce and make him the richest RB in the league.

The Saints will have rights to Howard in the same fashion that New England had rights to Tebucky when they traded him. If I remember correctly, they can franchise the player, get a deal worked out for a trade and rescind the franchise tag. The player will have to make some kind of committment too, but I cannot remember exactly how they term that.
So, a trade next offseason is possible and I think the Saints will have pretty strong leverage in getting a high pick provided Howard does better at staying healthy than he has this season already. |
