If you remember when GW came to town his defense bi*** slapped the offense in practice. Fights happened during training camp and Attitudes were adjusted. The offense came away with swagger........same as the defense.
I put a lot of faith in swagger personally. Playing with confidence helps your win ratio. |

Re: How Much Did the Saints Really Miss Sean Payton?
To me, the whole problem with the argument is to discount the defense. The offense did its share of screwing up, but the defense put the offense behind the 8 ball too much to be discounted. When you play from behind because the other team scores at will, or when you surrender a lead the offense gave you, by nature, the play calling changes. The mentality of the players change. There is so much that went wrong last year. Most of the fault lies with the defense. We did miss Payton to a degree. But he wouldn't have fixed everything, no. There would have been no Super Bowl with him.
But that defense was pitiful, no matter who the head coach. We won 7 games because if the staff and roster Payton put in place. |

Swagger and confidence don't create talent, it's the other way around.

Far more than we'd miss Roger Goodell if he suddenly wasn't around.

Worst defense in NFL history has a lot to do with it. Combine that with very untimely INTs and you had a recipe for disaster all season.

The answer to the question will come when Saints beat San Fran for the second time this coming season.
