Chris Ivory visited the Jets Friday
Could offer sheet be coming for Saints RFA RB Chris Ivory? He visited Jets Friday. Compensation would be second-round pick.

Re: Chris Ivory visited the Jets Friday
I sure hope so

Re: Chris Ivory visited the Jets Friday
This would be fantastic if it really happened, but I don't think it will. I'm a big Ivory fan and I don't even think he's worth a second rounder... Then again, these are the same jets who traded for Tebow, so I suppose anything is possible.

Re: Chris Ivory visited the Jets Friday
I like Ivory as a player but id let him go in a heartbeat for a second or even a third. We cant afford to be paying $2ml for a role player.
Ingram needs to step up this year or be cut/traded next. Ingram/Thomas/Sproles and Cadet are more than enough, though i wouldnt mind a very late/UFA big bodied back. |
Re: Chris Ivory visited the Jets Friday
Love the guy but he gets injured a lot so far. I think the 2 would be worth more to us.
|
Re: Chris Ivory visited the Jets Friday
I don't see them offering up a 2nd rounder for him, but any offer really would be welcome, since it would definitely help with the cap situation if Ivory was to be moved.
I love the way he runs, but the Saints can afford to part ways with him. |
Re: Chris Ivory visited the Jets Friday
Even a 4th or 5+7th wouldn't be bad business.
I don't see how we can afford him in $2ml to be a 4th option. A 4th or 5+7th could get us our NT or another need and free up cap space. |
Re: Chris Ivory visited the Jets Friday
Dare I say it? Ivory for Tebow? But of course, not.
|
Re: Chris Ivory visited the Jets Friday
They employ Rex Ryan, Sanches is their starting QB, and the intentionally traded to get Tebow.
Surly they will offer two firsts for Ivory. |
Re: Chris Ivory visited the Jets Friday
I hoping they make the trade with the Bucs for Revis,it will give them a second 2nd rounder to play with.I dont see them giving up a second rounder for Ivory, but then again they are the Jets.
It would be a good move for Ivory though, old fashioned coach who like to run the ball. |
Re: Chris Ivory visited the Jets Friday
If we can't pay ivory 2mil how are we gonna pay the draftees, I love Ivory, but we can use that 2nd round to get a DT and our first rounder could be Desmond Trufunt.
|
Re: Chris Ivory visited the Jets Friday
I love Ivory and the way he runs/plays when healthy but we do need this. Getting that pick would be great and we have so much RB depth already. We have guys that just frankly need more touches rather than sharing them even more.
The Jets have no RB so they might be enamored with Ivory's ability to do what Shonn Greene couldn't. |

I know we can demand a 2nd rounder but can accept less.
The way Howard worded it makes it sound like a 2nd rounder is officially the cost, not the maximum cost we can demand. I'm gonna have to do more research on tender compensation I guess. :brood: |

Re: Chris Ivory visited the Jets Friday
That second has to be sticker price. I bet we get a 3rd or 4th with conditions. If he breaks 1000 yards or scores enough it kicks in a 6 round. That seems like Loomis style right there. Always have a carrot dangling out there. Eventually it will pay off.

Re: Chris Ivory visited the Jets Friday
Just judging from heresay, since Ivory hasn't signed his tender, a trade of any sort is still possible.
Once Ivory signs his tender, he can not be traded. The final deadline for him to sign his tender is sometime in June (some claim April 19). I got this from a Mike Wallace article from last year. If he doesn't sign, his contract amount starts declining, and the Saints still retain his rights Once the Jets sign him to an offer sheet, its either the Saints match it, or the Saints get a 2nd rounder. But since I couldn't find anything official, I get an F. Since most of the above is from trusted posters, I'm basically cheating off the smart guy sitting next to me.:p |

Re: Chris Ivory visited the Jets Friday
If the Jets give us a second rounder for Ivory, I will be thrilled, but more to the point, it will reveal just how incredibly stupid the Jets organization truly is.

A pick for the Saints. A chance to play for Ivory. Win win.

NY Jets interested in trading for Saints restricted free agent RB Chris Ivory: Sources

The Jets are interested in trading for Saints restricted free agent running back Chris Ivory, according to sources.
Ivory visited the Jets facility on Friday, according to sources. The Saints tendered Ivory at the second-round level (1 year, $2 million) earlier this offseason, so the Jets would have to forfeit their second rounder (No. 39 overall) in the draft later this month if they sign him to an offer sheet and the Saints decline to match. The Saints would have five days to match the offer sheet or simply take the Jets’ second-round pick. http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopo...b14s-1-web.jpg However, the Daily News has learned that the Jets are not going to give up their second-round pick with so many holes to fill on their roster. The Jets will make the Saints an offer for lower draft pick compensation in a trade for Ivory, according to sources. Ivory, 25, has a 5.1 yards-per-carry average in limited action in his three-year career. The 6-0, 226-pound running back has eight career touchdowns in 24 games. He has rushed for 1,307 yards in 256 carries in his career. Read more: NY Jets interested in trading for Saints restricted free agent RB Chris Ivory: Sources - NY Daily News |

And he'll be playing out of our conference.

Re: NY Jets interested in trading for Saints restricted free agent RB Chris Ivory: Sources
For me the the 5th rounder would depend who was on the board.
If they said 5th i want to swap places in the 6th and have there 7th rounder aswell |
Re: NY Jets interested in trading for Saints restricted free agent RB Chris Ivory: Sources
Another option
Ivory,Saints 15th pick and conditional 2/3rd 2014 pick for the Jets 9th pick. We could take Lane Johnson if he is still there or use the 9th pick as bait to trade back into the late first with additional picks |

I think this gets done. He's a luxury we can't afford anymore. |
Re: NY Jets interested in trading for Saints restricted free agent RB Chris Ivory: Sources
The Saints put a second-round tender on restricted free agent running back Chris Ivory, but the Jets are hoping to get him from New Orleans for less than that.
Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that Ivory visited the Jets’ facility on Friday, and the Jets are interested in acquiring him. However, they are not interested in giving up their second-round draft pick, No. 39 overall, to get him. So the Jets won’t be signing Ivory to a restricted free agent offer sheet. Instead, the Jets are hoping that they can both agree to a contract with Ivory and agree to terms with the Saints on a trade that would bring Ivory to New York for a late-round pick. Ivory has played well in limited action since joining the Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2010. In three years he has played in 24 games with 10 starts, carrying 256 times for 1,307 yards (a 5.1-yard average) and eight touchdowns. With the Saints he has struggled to get consistent playing time in a crowded backfield that also includes Pierre Thomas, Darren Sproles and Mark Ingram. But with the Jets he’d have a chance of earning the starting job in a backfield that currently consists of Bilal Powell, Mike Goodson and Joe McKnight. Link Back ProFootball Weekly |

Chris Ivory - RB - Saints
NEWS: ESPN New York reports the Saints are indeed interested in trading restricted free agent Chris Ivory. ANALYSIS: It's a key factor because New Orleans has held steadfastly to Ivory's rights to this point in his career despite underutilizing him, seemingly instead preferring to stash his talent. GM Mickey Loomis likely now realizes Ivory is headed for unrestricted free agency in 2014 and the Saints' best chance of receiving draft-pick compensation for him is now. ESPN New York's Rich Cimini suspects New Orleans would part with Ivory in exchange for a fourth-round pick. ~Reported and Sent from the NEW Rotoworld Fantasy News |

Ughhh nooooooooooo .... He is going to beat r a$$ this season when we play them....

Re: NY Jets interested in trading for Saints restricted free agent RB Chris Ivory: Sources
I don't understand the obsession some people have with Ivory, he's decent but he's not as dynamic as sproles or pt. Ingram will be substantially better with a healthy season under payton.

Re: NY Jets interested in trading for Saints restricted free agent RB Chris Ivory: Sources
Look how often he gets injured with the limited playing time he gets here. What do y'all think will happen when the Jets give him more?
A 4th round pick is more than fair. If I was a Jets fan, I'd be pissed off if they give up a 4th for Ivory... |
Re: NY Jets interested in trading for Saints restricted free agent RB Chris Ivory: Sources
Ivory is an enigma. He's a bruising runner who has been productive when given playing time BUT in New Orleans, he's buried behind runners who fit the system better and he's battled numerous injuries. This may be a case where he's more valuable to another team than he is to the Saints.
When deciding draft compensation, the Saints need to ask themselves how much value is a 4th RB to the team compared to other depth needs, especially considering the lack of a second round pick. Since Ivory will be a unrestricted free agent next season, if the Saints will get anything for him- now is the time. So, how much value do they expect from him this year vs short term and long term value of the pick they recieve. I think the Saints should shop him for a fourth, but look to other teams than the Jets. |
Re: NY Jets interested in trading for Saints restricted free agent RB Chris Ivory: Sources
I'd hate to see him go for anything less than a 4th rounder, but I would totally understand the move if the FO decided to let him go for even less.
