He's long in the tooth, but Jason Hanson is the bomb. Although veteran minimum for him would probably be larger than the minimum for others, since he has been in the league since 1956 or something. Still I would love to see what he could do.
And there is no conceivable kicking situation that Hanson has not seen before, which I sometimes feel is part of Hartley's problem -- like the ridiculous injury on grass in Oakland, or the one where Hartley gets iced by a timeout and makes it, then missing the second identical attempt, or the overtime FG against the Falcons. It just seems to me sometimes like a lot of Hartley's unpredictability is the kind that comes from "learning on the job" when he is stuck in a new or unfamiliar situation or when he makes "head case kicker" mental mistakes. |
