Saints Visit With LSU OT Chris Faulk
The New Orleans Saints are still not done kicking the tires on offensive tackles leading up to the 2013 NFL Draft.
According to Ravens Insider Aaron Wilson, the Saints visited with former LSU Tiger offensive tackle Chris Faulk yesterday. Faulk was one of the many LSU players that decided to leave early instead of return for another season in Death Valley. It was really puzzling in his case since Faulk missed the entire 2012 season due to a right knee injury. Starting out at right tackle, Faulk eventually slid over to the left side which right now is an area that the Saints appear to want to develop, although they have Charles Brown and newly signed Jason Smith set to face off for the starting spot. Chris Faulk #76 / Offensive Tackle / LSU Tigers Height: 6-6 Weight: 323 Year: junior At the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine Faulk (6'6", 331 lbs.) only participated in the bench press due to still being on the mend from surgery. He did 25 reps of 225 pounds. At his Pro Day he merely participated in position drills and nothing else. Once considered to be a top prospect, Faulk has slid down the board on draft rankings. CBSSports.com currently has him ranked as a fifth rounder, which is why he might be appealing to the Saints who have a limited number of picks this year. Saints also visited with former Penn State linebacker Gerald Hodges and former California (Pa.) safety Rontez Miles.

Re: Saints Visit With LSU OT Chris Faulk
Faulk would be excellent value if he was available as late as the 5th round - he would almost certainly be a 1st rounder if he wouldn't have had that injury and/or if he had decided to stay for his senior year at LSU.
I see him as a definite starter at LT, but not this upcoming season - 2014 and onward. |

A healthy body to compete at RT is a secondary concern.

Re: Saints Visit With LSU OT Chris Faulk
I'd love Faulk if we could pick him very late in the draft. The knee is a concern for me.

Faulk could be a perennial pro bowler at RT. I would draft an LOT type to groom also just encase. Yep talking taking players with "upside" outside of round 1 just encase either way i would take Fualk from round 3 on and live with the risk. |
