New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton arrived at the team's Metairie headquarters Friday with a list of potential players the team would covet with their lone third-round pick.

In a dream scenario, the Saints would land one of those players with the 75th overall selection of the NFL draft.

The Saints did even better.

On an eventful night, which consisted of rounds two and three, the Saints landed their top two targets - Arkansas Pine-Bluff offensive tackle Terron Armstead and Georgia defensive tackle John Jenkins.

The Saints pulled off this feat by first taking Armstead with their 75th pick, then trading back into the round by sending running back Chris Ivory to the New York Jets for a fourth-round pick (106) which they then packaged with their own fourth-rounder (109) to trade with the Miami Dolphins for pick No. 82 to pick Jenkins.

"I'm excited about tonight because when we started the day, we started with a list of seven or eight guys," Payton said. "Armstead was the guy at the top of that list. With that being said, we were then able to get a good defensive player, who has that presence and size. ...

"We were excited about last night's selection (first-round pick safety Kenny Vaccaro) as well. Look this is the time of year that everyone says 'we got our guy.' ... (But) I know from experience that that's not always the case. But I also know from experience, generally when you sit and talk to everyone you act like that was the case."

A year off must have done Sean some good because he's landing some terrific draft picks so far as opposed to half-assing it! Mickey and Sean ain't screwing around this year!

Jenkins definitely eclipses "big man" Ellis.

#1 concern is the term BIG weight always is an issue with him. dropped some pounds for the draft but is that a crash diet? i hope not.

Ok Armstead was at the top - which I see. I wonder who the next few we're because it does not sound like Jenkins was #2 on the list

I'm thinking he eclipses some planets, or at least most major moons.
