Rod Sweeting, CB, Georgia Tech

Weight:189
Arm Length: 31 1/4
Hand Size: 9
40 time: 4.42

3 Cone:7.10

He is a physical, intelligent corner and his tenacity earned him a late-round selection. Instant impact on special teams.

Latest News
01/10/2013 - Georgia Tech defensive end Izaan Cross and cornerback Rod Sweeting have been selected to play in the prestigious East-West Shrine Game Jan. 19 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., kicking off at 4 p.m. EST and televised live on NFL Network. The Yellow Jacket duo will play for the East team and will be coached by former Tech assistant Jerry Glanville. Cross and Sweeting join an elite list of football greats who have played in the East-West Shrine Game including 52 players currently on active NFL rosters. Cross and Sweeting represent the third and fourth Yellow Jackets who played under head coach Paul Johnson to play in the Shrine Game. Cord Howard (2009) and Mario Butler (2010) were previously selected. - Georgia Tech football More Rod Sweeting News

Overview
Sweeting was one of the top recruits out Georgia, choosing in-state Georgia Tech over Ohio State and Auburn. He didn't start as a freshman or sophomore, but he played in every game as a valuable member of the secondary. Sweeting started all 13 games in 2011 at cornerback, defending 12 passes and earning All-ACC Honorable Mention honors as he tied for the team-lead with three interceptions.
He earned an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game, where he was coached by former Yellow Jackets assistant Jerry Glanville.

Analysis
He has good length for the position, but needs to add more muscle and bulk to his lean frame to match up better at the next level. Sweeting plays fast with smooth body control and natural instincts to read/react in a flash while staying under control.--Dane Brugler

Chase Thomas, OLB, Stanford

Weight:244 lbs

Broad: 9'5"
Bench: 18

03/28/2013 - 2013 Stanford Pro Day: Chase Thomas, LB (6-3 1/8, 243) - Thomas ran the 40 in 4.80 and 4.85 seconds, did 21 lifts on the bench, and stood on the rest of his numbers from the combine. Thomas moves well, but lacks the all-out great speed required at linebacker. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com More Chase Thomas News

Overview
Coming into the season, the senior?s draft stock was all over the map, some believing he was first round material while others thought he was a late round pick. But Thomas? overachieving attitude and combination of strength and smarts has cemented his value in the top 75 range, and possibly higher as April gets closer.
Analysis
Thomas? impact for Stanford?s defense is felt way past the box score with his constant disruption on the pocket and against the run. In an overtime loss to Notre Dame in South Bend in October, he was extremely active with stunts and pressures, attacking from different angles and directions. Thomas showed strong hands and wrists to stack and shed quickly to keep blockers off balance.
He is tough to contain because of his energetic playing style and quick feet to avoid blockers, using arm-over technique to gain leverage and break through the line of scrimmage. Thomas plays disciplined with a high football IQ.
Although he isn?t naturally explosive or a quick-twitch pass rusher, he plays fast and hard with controlled aggression and goes at full speed any time he?s on the field.

Me too. I was hoping we were going to take him in the 6th. Getting him as an UDFA instead is that much sweeter!
