I don\'t think it would really matter if Rumph plays or not, he could\'nt catch Stallworth anyway and it\'s only a matter of time before Stallworth figures out speed kills.

Donte can be great if he figures out not to let people and mistakes get into his head

I\'m going to catch it big time from Saintfan and the like on this one, but...

Donte\'s speed won\'t matter until AB figures out how to either A) throw the deep ball or B) hit a receiver IN-STRIDE on a slant or coming across the middle. If Brooks can\'t give Stallworth the ability to catch and run, his speed will continue to be a non-factor.

Brooks most definately does NOT have the ability to give Stallworth the ability to catch or to run. Brooks can only get him the ball.

Having said that let us all remember what Tom Landry once said about receivers:

Tom said, \"If you can touch it, you can catch it.\" These guys are pros, and while I\'d like to see Brooks hit \'em in the numbers every time I feel that might be asking more than he (or anyone) can deliver. Catch the damn ball!

By the way Whodat, that pass Brooks loftet to Pathon was on the money man. Jerome has to catch that ball and you know it.

What about the one on third down where Pathon had 2 yards on a safety coming across the middle and Brooks threw a ten yard pass on a crossing route 3 yards behind Pathon? He hits Pathon in the hands and Pathon goes for 30. There was nothing but green.

Look, I don\'t want to get into a breakdown of every incomplete pass AB threw, but I will... Point is, of the incomplete passes thrown by AB in week 1, I saw more than were his fault than his receivers\' fault. He probably had three maybe four balls that were dropped (truly) by the receiver. He missed at least that many, some that were critical - like 3rd down wide open, and deep balls to Horn, Stallworth, and Pathon than all could have gone for TDs.

C\'mon Saintfan, don\'t start doing the defend AB at all costs thing. The guy just doesn\'t have a lot of touch and misses a good deal of passes... maybe last week was just rust. I hope so, b/c if he plays like that all year I\'ll be eating my words about seeing him in the Pro Bowl .

The pass was behind Pathon, but three yards??? Come on, WhoDat, were you watching the same game that I was? If it was 3 yards behind him, it would have sailed past him, untouched. AB should have put the pass in front of him, but it still bounced off his body, and it wasn\'t like Pathon brought his \'A\' game this past weekend. Bad pass, but he still had a play on the ball.

This is assuming that had Brooks hit him in the numbers he would have somehow managed to do the unthinkable and actually catch the stupid thing.

I disagree with this absolutely, and not because I\'m defending Brooks Whodat. Our receivers don\'t catch balls that him them in the hands. 08 says it\'s because Brooks throws too hard. Pa-Lease! Tell that to Farve, k?

Ok, 2 yards. It didn\'t hit him in the body at all. He jumped, spun and stuck his hand out behind him to keep it from being intercepted. That\'s not the difference of a few inches. That\'s the difference of a few feet.

Disagree all you want Saintfan - do you have a copy of the game? Go back and looks - Brooks missed more opportunities than the receivers dropped balls that could be expected to be caught (i.e. not the ones where receivers have to stop moving in the direction they are going and jump back in the opposite direction just to get a hand on the ball).
