I see one key that SanFran is consistently exploiting. On short yardage run plays Grant and Smith keeps crashing the interior towards the center instead of maintaining outside gap control.
It was very very clear on the first Barlow TD on the cutback. It was also evident on the last two runs leading to the second SF TD. On the 3rd and 1 the back ran to the outside of Grant, and on the 2nd TD Barlow ran to the spot vacated by Grant again. He\'s screwing up. However I blame Pease and Venturi because after the first time they need to coach him to maintain his gap and let the tackle deal with the inside. SFIAH P.S. The offense is doing better today. They\'ll probably post another 2 or 3 TDs and salt the game away. BTW wasn\'t it not too smart to cut Carter. Hindsight and 20/20 I guess. [Edited on 19/9/2004 by SaintFanInATLHELL] |
Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO
Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good. |

one would tend to think with all the draft picks spent on DL by the saints that they\'d be able to stop an eighteen wheeler gone haywire... but i think if i put on a set of pads, i would have a good shot at a 100 yd game vs. the saints....
