Some interesting names taking part in New Orleans Saints rookie minicamp
![]() There always seems to be a few interesting names that pop up on the New Orleans Saints' rookie minicamp roster each offseason with most of the players actually participating during the three-day camp suiting up for a tryout hoping to earn a contract. Veteran quarterback John Beck and rookie wide receiver Duron Carter fit the bill this year. Beck was a former second-round pick by the Dolphins in 2007 who has bounced around the league from Miami to Baltimore to Washington, where he started three games in 2011, to Houston. Beck holds a career passer rating of 67.6 with three touchdowns and seven interceptions. Carter is the son of Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter and will be trying out for the Saints after leaving the Vikings rookie minicamp last weekend without a contract. Former LSU standouts kicker Josh Jasper and defensive lineman Josh Downs will be in camp, along with Tulane long snapper Billy Johnson, son of Saints defensive line coach Bill Johnson. Here's the full list of participants in this weekend's rookie minicamp: P Dalton Botts, Miami (Fla.)
