In the 1st quarter, the defense was looking great. Dorsey was getting pressure, the secondary was breaking up balls, and the running game hadn\'t really taken off (like it did in the 2nd half). On offense, except for the running game, we looked pretty good. Brooks was throwing sound passes to receivers who were wide open. The passing game was excellent in the 1st half. Now look at the 2nd half. The defense was getting mauled. Dorsey had all day to throw. The SF coordinators went from a medium to long ball passing system to a short passing system. Venturi did absolutely nothing to help out the defense, and that\'s why the 49ers came back so quickly. On offense, McCarthy stuck with his gameplan and made few adjustments. Now, the 49ers defense knew where the play was going. How many 3rd downs did you see where Brooks wasn\'t in shotgun? How many plays did you see a TE or a FB motioning to the side we were running to? McCarthy wasn\'t trying to outwit this defense. He was too dumb to figure out that the 49ers had figured out his system in a heartbeat. |
When it comes to discussing Saints losses, Jack Daniels can be a great listener.
