Saints are $5.1 mill under the cap
That's after restructuring Roman The Neck.
That puts the team about average in the NFL. Here's list of FA status; 2013 NFL Football Free Agents - CBSSports.com Player Movement So what do we do with the money? Go after another OLB? OT? WR? Or just save it for a rainy day (aka training camp nightmare injury) |

Graham, maybe Jenkins, will need to have their tenures extended...
NFL Free-Agent Tracker - ESPN Love to see us trade either Will Smith with the Rams and get OT Roger Saffold... Checking in on Saffold at RT - NFL Rumors Blog - ESPN We need to bid up Richard Seymour who's negotiating with the Falcons... Falcons talking contract with Richard Seymour | ProFootballTalk I'd like to see us develop the OLB we have on the roster before signing Nick Barnett or Daryl Smith, if healthy... Re: Saints are $5.1 mill under the cap
I wouldn't hate bringing in Daryl Smith to compete at ILB at the right price, he just kind of seems like a Saint to me. He's not too flashy, typically undervalued by other teams but he just makes tackles and plays. That said, I think we'll find 2 solid starters out of Lofton, Vilma, Hawthorne, etc.
Seymour is another guy I like, but he's past his prime and it sounds like he wants the big bucks. That said, I'm very excited to see Hicks get his opportunity to start at DE. He would still be nice to have at the right price. |

Re: Saints are $5.1 mill under the cap
I like that he is creating space so we aren't constantly cutting and signing multiple players in the RG. That isn't good for him and certainly not for the players. Have to leave some wiggle room for injuries.
Not much value out there anyway. I think we are in pretty good shape, maybe one more backup on the OL but we should be fine. |

Keep it for now and things happen and , or they see where they could use it in some weaker positions. Traning camp and preseason are still some time away.
Loomis really does have a good slush fund there for the "Just in case." Good for the Saints org. |
