'NFL Total Access' recap: Can Rob Ryan fix the Saints' D?
Can Ryan succeed in New Orleans?
Heath Evans said he likes the way Rob Ryan will fit with the New Orleans Saints because he believes coach Sean Payton gets the best out of his coaches and his players. Brian Baldinger added that he thinks Ryan could be a good fit, if he doesn't try to do too much so they don't end up beating themselves. if what?
they go back to an ideology of attacking? they did that and are good at it. a monkey can do this. the real question will be this will ego again lead to inflexibility in players positions or roles? I do think Ryan can do personnel adjustments on the fly during a season I will be watching his ability adjust game plans at half and/or during the second half Ryan should do a solid job building the LB corp. He always has done a good job at this. The rest of the roster makes me wonder but the saints have gone out of there way to flood camp with defensive playerrs to look at |

I think we will do good not great on D this season, there are a few spots of concern, ILB{who will it be}, CB {who starts opposite of Lewis and can they do it} S {who will they be} I believe we do have the players at those positions to be highly effective except the ILB position. Our front line should be bad a$$ this year.

There are the keys right there. Good call hagan. I've always looked at Sean as the master of the halftime adjustment (personnel permitting). I too am hoping Rob can make this happen.

I really have no idea what to expect from the D this year. I'm 50/50 on it. I feel like we will do good, but I felt the same way last season when we hired Spags. There's no way in hell we'll do as bad as last year-Sean won't let that happen!

I would be delighted if he got the defense to the 15th - 20th range in terms of total defense. That would be a huge step in the right direction given that we will probably be a top five offense yet again.

Re: 'NFL Total Access' recap: Can Rob Ryan fix the Saints' D?
we have the players and they excel at attacking already.
34 switch is the only issue but most of the players have played it in college so that is a good thing in no way do i expect a repeat from last year based on this. 25th ranking at the min coming out of the gate. coaching has nothing to do with it now anything better than that i will be open to giving our DC some credit. remember we won it all with a 25th ranked defense. but that defense had a knack for turn overs at the right time to make a huge difference in a game. |

We'll be a top 10 defense this year... At least two pro-bowlers and a defensive rookie of the year. Mark my words.
