New Orleans Saints question of the day: Could Joe Morgan's arrest open the door for Devery Henderson's return?
1 Attachment(s)
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Joe Morgan only had 10 receptions last season. But with his 37.9 yards per catch average and three touchdowns of 80, 48 and 34 yards, he effectively locked down the deep threat role that Devery Henderson had occupied for many seasons.
The writing was on the wall for the 31-year-old Henderson, who caught 22 passes for 316 yards and one touchdown in 2012. He was allowed to become a free agenty after eight seasons with the Saints and is still available, although the San Francisco 49ers are reportedly interested in signing him. I doubt we cut Joe for a 1st time screw up. If we did that we'd set a pretty bad precedent.
He’ll get a 2nd chance, and he should. |

The Henderson ship has sailed.

Re: New Orleans Saints question of the day: Could Joe Morgan's arrest open the door for Devery Henderson's return?
I think it boils down to Morgan's presence in the locker room. A lot of teams would use this as an excuse to get rid of a PITA player. If Morgan is a good teammate, he'll stay in the black and gold and Devery'll be tellin' Harbaugh all about us real soon.

Damn I don't want D Henderson with that team. Morgan screwed up, he's not getting cut. I think he will pay the price for it, on the bench

Re: New Orleans Saints question of the day: Could Joe Morgan's arrest open the door for Devery Henderson's return?
Always tough choices Devery was good for this team much more left in the tank than when Joe blow my own Horn finished. Devery is just a likable guy. I would like to see him finish but not in SF also. Its the way of the world Payton is trying to go younger and I dont blame him for that. NFL (not for long) No matter your job all of us will be replaced with young guys on day or another just takes longer if your not a pro player.

Morgan is a game changer, his tds were amazing.... The one at seasons end where he drags EJ biggers 5 yards to the end zone..... Wow
We are all due one mess up, I'm sure Payton will call him in and have a chat with him....Brees will probably walk him through the doors at dmv |
Re: New Orleans Saints question of the day: Could Joe Morgan's arrest open the door for Devery Henderson's return?
I like the fact that he pulled over rather than continue driving..........a DUI is uncool but he at least showed some restraint. The NFL will probably come down hard on him because he's a Saint.

he'll get a second chance, and he deserves it
the man is a highlight reel! |
Re: New Orleans Saints question of the day: Could Joe Morgan's arrest open the door for Devery Henderson's return?
The only way I see him getting cut is if he walks into the facility and tells, Payton, Benson and Loomis to go take a flying leap; when they give him his punishment.
So no, Joe's not going anywhere. |

I'll be curious if Toon steps up and if this opens a spot for him for more playing time.

Re: New Orleans Saints question of the day: Could Joe Morgan's arrest open the door for Devery Henderson's return?
i was going to delete it but i guess i need to leave it now. i was reading again and felt i was not PC enough. I am falling into the trap.
30 years ago this would not be an issue like it is today and that is due to this zero tolerance policy people have. I just get tired of all the over reaction because a person makes a mistake. No one got hurt and he was lucky. this time. now as for the article i am surprised Katherine Terrell wrote this she does good work i guess it was a filler piece. I did not mean to rip the writer as much as the ideology it supports |
Re: New Orleans Saints question of the day: Could Joe Morgan's arrest open the door for Devery Henderson's return?
Not justifying it, but I feel a lot differently about this because he was pulled over. Big mistake, granted, but I see Payton and Co using this as motivation and Morgan will make the most of the second opportunity...

How do the other young receivers look?
Don't see Morgan getting cut first time out though |
