Cam Newton #46 on NFL top 100.
Okay, this list is totally illegitimate. Cam Newton is a better football player than Tony Gonzalez (47)? Than Champ Bailey (53)? Than Julius Peppers (54), Victor Cruz (58), and Jared Allen (60)?
And I find it offensive that Russell Wilson (51) and Colin Kaepernick (81) were placed below Cam. What has Cam Newton done? He's a good quarterback but he simply doesn't belong on the list. He has a TD/INT ratio of 1.38 to 1 over two seasons. That isn't exactly stellar given all the recent rule changes which favor the quarterback. In his rookie season, Russell Wilson had a TD/INT ratio of 2.6 to 1, which is flat out superb. Also, Wilson led his team to the playoffs. Newton didn't. Kaepernick, though he didn't play a full season, led his team to the Super Bowl, and had a TD/INT ratio of 3.33 to 1 over 7 games as a starter in the regular season. He also had an excellent passer rating - 98.3 - whereas Newton's passer rating was 86.2. I guess one shouldn't be so bent out of shape over this as the top 100 list is voted on by NFL players, many of which are not aspiring rocket scientists. Still and all, I'm getting so freaking tired of accolades being heaped on people who haven't performed up to scratch while other players whose performances are consistently awesome (like, I dunno, Marques Colston for instance?), are snubbed. I recognize that Newton is being lauded for being a dual threat as passer and runner, but both Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick are amazing dual threat quarterbacks as well. Someone wake me up when Cam Newton actually leads his team to the playoffs. |

1. Yes, I agree Scam's overrated.... ........but........... Let me say this about this list!! It is fiction...trust me I have been football starved enough to fall for it when they first started it like three seasons ago. The NFL Network put this in strategically to bridge the gap between after the draft and the start of fantasy football. That's all it's for. Don't get caught up in who gets slotted where. If you do that then I pass you one of these "SUCKER" shirts you can wear while you watch.....
2. You shouldn't throw stones, if you live in a glass house. Scam swept us last season..... Like it or not. BTW Brees wasn't great so the same argument your making that Cam should be higher is the same argument you'll hear when Brees name is mentioned Got swept by Carolina 7-9 record Tied for the league lead in ints.... Not Brees worthy, and even he would tell you that..... |
You shouldn't throw stones if you live in a glass house, and if have a glass jaw you should watch your mouth..... cause I'll break your face!!! -50 cent

It's been too long since the Saints were on the field........
We've got to win the Superbowl so the off season is shorter. |

Re: Cam Newton #46 on NFL top 100.
Their is not many list out there that can be legit.
Like the one who had Drew Brees at something like #76 on the list and Matt Ryan #8, I think it was from PFF. Its quite sad when fans can do more to contribute to a true top 100 list than actual NFL Analyst. |

Re: Cam Newton #46 on NFL top 100.
I do believe Cam is better than the first group of players mentioned (considering only recent performance and not career,) I don't believe he is better than the other two QBs mentioned.
Also, since when are sports ranking lists of any sort not total BS? |
