this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Has Payton ever let a good young player get away? Other than veterans leaving for big money contracts the only two I can think of are Ninkovich and Joique Bell. And Bell is still unproven....

Ninkovich? Yeah, but he was an injury cut on two teams before he made it. There was no way we were gonna keep him around for 2 or 3 years waiting for him to heal. The dark side of that observation is that we haven't really had an abundance of good young players, so it was easy to spot and keep the good ones. Maybe Jo-Lonn? Maybe Matt Giordano or Vonta Leach? |
