There seem to be many hungrier younger players who have a genuine opportunity to make a difference this year. Other than a dozen or so players, we really don't have too many old farts vying for jobs. | |

Re: Lots of new faces on the current roster
training camp must be like a army drill and organized by a engineer and run like a general. GENERAL PAYTON that is.

Re: Lots of new faces on the current roster
We absolutely must employ a youth movement if we want to keep the studs on our roster like Brees, Graham, Evans, Grubbs, Jordan, Colston, Moore etc...
Youth is cheap. We need to eliminate big contracts to average to above average players. If players like Wilson, Hicks, Jordan, and Galette explode this year, they're gonna demand big money in a few years. Right now, we don't have it, especially with Graham getting a monster contract next season. |

Re: Lots of new faces on the current roster
Isn't that how it normally goes? Veteran team with a young new QB, or a great Veteran QB working with a young new team. One helps carry the other...

Re: Lots of new faces on the current roster
After money is spent on the nucleus of the roster then we need to do well with cheap players..............errr inexpensive.

Who really cares what we pay a player as long as there is value added to the team? We do not write the checks, they do not come out of our accounts. Is 20M a year over paying a QB? Perhaps 10M/year is underpaying a QB that brought you a Super Bowl Championship. "If" Drew plays out his present contract in the span of 11 years he will have been paid 160M... That is 14.5M per year over his career with the Saints. Is 14.5M/year too much to pay your best hope for a SB? If we get a 500k player and he preforms like a 2M player we have value, if we get a 500k player and he preforms like a 500k player we have no value. |
