The Saints passed out a promotion to one of their own in the scouting department.
The team announced today that director of pro scouting Ryan Pace was named director of player personnel, and will oversee the personnel department. Pace has been with the Saints since 2001, working his way up from operations assistant to pro scout and beyond. General Manager Mickey Loomis is still there running the Saints operations, but with his dual role over the top of the NBA Pelicans, having a trusted football guy in place alongside him is key. Saints promote Pace to director of player personnel | ProFootballTalk Nice to see talent move up the chain! From the Saints' website ... New Orleans Saints executive vice president/general manager Mickey Loomis announced Monday that the club has promoted Ryan Pace to director of player personnel. “We are pleased to announce that we have promoted Ryan Pace to director of player personnel,” said Loomis. “Ryan has been an important member of our scouting team for more than 12 years now. Over the last several years, he has played an important role in the process of constructing our roster. He will continue to be a great asset to the New Orleans Saints.” Pace, entering his 13th year in the Saints organization, will oversee the club’s player personnel department. He will work closely with Director of College Scouting Rick Reiprish as well as the pro personnel department. Previously, he served as the club’s director of pro scouting since 2007 and was responsible for managing the entire pro personnel department on a daily basis. His duties included overseeing the club’s staff of pro scouts, recommending player acquisitions through free agency, waivers and trades and supervising the advance scouting of upcoming opponents. Pace began his career with the Saints in 2001 as an operations assistant, assisting in the coordination of all operations on game days, training camp and with the Superdome. He served as a scouting assistant from 2002-03 and as a pro scout from 2003-06. The Flower Mound, Texas native was a four-year letterman at defensive end at Eastern Illinois from 1995-99, serving as a team captain as a senior, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. Re: Saints promote Pace to director of player personnel
Is he related to David Pace, Tulane Football alum and founder of Pace Foods (Picante Sauce lore)?!?
Also understand that Ryan Pace was a Defensive End and Team Captain at Eastern Illionois...and no, he was here before Coach Payton, also Eastern Illionois, got here... |

Is this a promotion without a salary bump? I'd like to think that the FO is not doing what the rest of corporate America is doing to their employees....

Re: Saints promote Pace to director of player personnel
The Third Reich is over, employees have the ability to decline any promotion ... especially one that is not accompanied with a justifiable increase in compensation, and they should.
If I offered an employee a promotion with no raise in compensation I would have doubts about his decision making ability if he accepted. |
