This is a low point in the season. The D that has been criticised all year finally had a solid game for the most part. I know they gave up a ton of rushing yards to a 3rd string back, but they held the Bengals to 7 points for 3 QTRs and then just got tired cause the Offense had nothing working at all. Its not easy to tackle a 270 lbs RB when you have to play 25 minn in a half...I know some people might not agree, but the O cost us this game today. Our D got us 4 turnovers we did jack with it. With less than 5 minn of possession in the second half I can't blame the D.
Brooks proved today what I have thought all year long. He cannot do anything when he has to carry a team. He struggled greatly when the running game wasnt working. He was not under pressure all day he just made bad throws and decisions. Like I usually say we are lucky they dont intercept all the bad passes he throws. That might be the only good thing about him always throwing bullets DBs and LBs cant catch that as easy. Im not gonna say Brooks lost this game because we had no running game either. However, I heard Brooks was upset that he didnt make the ProBowl eventhough he was 1st in TD passes. That is cause he has so much talent around him he SHOULD lead the league in TD passes. He showed the NFL why he didnt make the ProBowl today. If he had something to prove he proved it. He didnt deserve to be an alternate over McNabb. Brooks has benefitted from great WRs. Take away the 7 yard slant with the 50 yard run by Stallworth and what did Brooks do today? 150 yards and no TDs. against the Bengals. Way to prove your point... I have said it more than once the last few weeks this team is not built for a QB with a great arm. It is built for a SMART QB with great accuracy. We need someone to get it to the play making WRs. Brooks can do that sometymes... othertymes he just looks lost. He proved that today. He is not making any progress and is looking like he is regressing. He has happy feet, back pedals and throws off his back foot, throws into coverage, telegraphs passes, drops back 10 or more yards, doesnt scramble for quik easy yards... it is frustrating watching a team stick with a QB that has not proven himself once this year that he is the franchise QB we inked to a long term deal in the offseason. I was very upset when we signed him for the long term cause I didnt think he had proven himself last year. Now I dont feel bad about doubting him. He hasnt lived up to the expectations or contrat that we signed him to. I hope we are smart enough to give Jake a chance cause Brooks looks to be slipping and I dont want to go into next year without a solid back up. Brooks comp % dropping every year since he became our QB... we bring in more targets he gets less accurate that make sense to anyone? Jake comes in and goes what 8 of 10; 8 of 9 if you toss out a hail mary. HMMM... Im not saying Jake is the future but why can Jake be so accurate and Brooks not??? makes you wonder... |

I agree Syc, AB sold us out today,if he was hurt and didn\'t take himself out, or if he stunk it up because he was mad that\'s being selfish and not a team player. If he was trying to be a hero, it didn\'t work, Now he is a Heel. Most of his passes were high even the touchdown to Stallworth was high and if he would have been on target they would have had at least 2 more touchdowns because he missed Boo on one and Stallworth on another.

Syco, I couldn\'t agree more. We both have been saying this all year, but most people who frequent these forums don\'t want to hear it. Well, I\'d be interested to hear what the Brooks lovers have to say after that performance. Even Tom Jackson said on NFL Primetime that Brooks was the problem.
By the way, did anyone see Dale Carter joking around with the Bengals players on the field after the game. That says it all about this teams focus. They don\'t f--king care. COACHING, COACHING, COACHING. Overall, I really like Haslett, but you need a shake up in this organization. You need to put everyone\'s job on the line. Force each and every player to EARN his spot, and let the best player play. The same goes for the coaches as well. |

When writers, announcers and fans speak of teams having
no heart or no character, it is the 2002 version of the Saints that they are alluding to. The Saints are the best example I know of as an \"aggregate of talent\" and not a team. Their leader, Aaron Brooks is undoubtedly the most talened QB ever to put on a Saints\' uniform (the yellow fit them well last week). He is also the most lacadaisical, unmotivated, unfocused and gutless QB the Saints have ever had. He simply quits. He should be strapped to a chair and forced to watch Billy Kilmer and Bobby Hebert highlights in the offseason. In the Marines, we called men like him \"sh?tbirds.\" Perhaps Haslett should sit Brooks for a half and let him watch Jake Delhomme give him a lesson in character, then put him back in and see if he\'s learned something. Hey, fellas, after today, don\'t tell me the Saints would be worse off with Jake at the helm in the last game. The proof is on the field and on the scoreboard. But Haslett, ain\'t got the nads to do what needs to be done. Great hoops win Tigers, now that was team and guts. |

Well said Jarhead. Too many people put too much emphasis on stats such as Aaron Brooks\' TD throws. I have been saying all year that, sure he\'ll make several good throws but he\'ll follow them up with very costly mistakes. A QB doesn\'t have to be a great athlete to guide a team to success but he needs to be a leader and be able to make the smart plays and AB just doesn\'t have it. I find myself now hoping that we don\'t start Jake next week unless the Giants lose on Saturday and the game means something. I\'m convinced that he will play well and that will further show other teams that they should snatch him away from us. On the other hand, even if he played well I\'ll bet that AB would get the nod next year.

I think that\'s what kills me the most. Rookies like LeCharles Bentley are the guys who are really upset about this loss. I haven\'t heard one peep from Brooks and Haslett\'s post-game conference made me so mad I was thinking about becoming the I-10 sniper. You can listen to the post game at nola.com. For anyone who hasn\'t heard it I suggest that you go listen. Haslett is completely monotone. Unreal!
