It's easy for young receivers to get lost in the barrage of talented wideouts the New Orleans Saints boast on their depth chart.
It seems the last thing New Orleans needs is another wide receiver; last season seven Saints broke at least 300 yards receiving -- two of whom, Marques Colston and Lance Moore, surpassed 1000 yards. But rookie receiver Kenny Stills isn't letting a little competition get in the way of his NFL aspirations. "I feel like just talking to the older guys, we're not really focused on the competition part," Stills said. "We know at the end of the day, there's only so many they can keep, but we're trying to go out there each and every day and go in there with the right attitude and mindset." Stills is currently fighting with seven other receivers for one of the last two spots on the roster. The first three slots assumingly will be taken by Marques Colston, Lance Moore and Joe Morgan, while Courtney Roby likely will be kept for special team duties. "There's so many little things when you come to the NFL that become big things," Stills said. "The little things all make the big picture for us. I'm just learning from Lance and Marques and Joe every day to focus on those small things." Read more: |

Re: New Orleans Saints rookie wideout Kenny Stills trying to separate himself from pack
I think its time for fresh blood at this position. Personally I think Roby can go. Think Morgan should be on the bubble. We need to make room for this young talent. Sure the coaches know more than me and our team is really tough to crack at this position. Just think we are going to miss out on some gems here by staying with the guys that have not been able to challange Colston and Moore. I am for Toon, Stills, and Hakim to stay. Too bad may not be room for Tanner but this all you hear about this guy is good. To bad we don't have this problem with our other positions.

This! Roby is far and away the best special teams player we have. He is always the first man down the field on kick coverage and also starts on the return team and can return himself. In a pinch he can come in as a WR and be respectable, as well.

One thing you need to show up in a game. We look great in shorts. It's how you respond in Game Action.

Re: New Orleans Saints rookie wideout Kenny Stills trying to separate himself from pack
I think this is correct. We will only keep 6 WRs... Colston, Moore, Morgan, Stills, Toon & ? Hakim has the speed advantage, Andy Tanner catches everything, but is a possession receiver. Preston Parker is kind of in between. If the Saints keep Hakim, he could be the returner in place of Courtney Roby, and Eric Martin could be the gunner of kickoffs in place of Roby. Eric Martin will make the team because of his special teams skills, and his pass rush skills.
If one of the WRs gets hurt and put on IR, that changes everything, and Andy Tanner walks through the door. |
