Holder ~ Joe Morgan(ACL) and Kenyon Coleman(pec) done for season
1 Attachment(s)
Saints WR Joe Morgan has been diagnosed with a torn meniscus and partially torn ACL and is done for the season.
Saints LE Kenyon Coleman tore his pectoral in Wednesday's training camp practice and is done for the season. Larry Holder via Twitter New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton talks about injuries to Joe Morgan, Kenyon Coleman Opening statement: “Just a few notes on injuries. I wanted to get back to you on Joe Morgan. Two things: meniscus tear and he’ll have that repaired, and also an ACL repair. It’s not a full ACL but this will be season-ending for him. Obviously that is significant and that surgery is being done today. Kenyon Coleman has got a pectoral tear. He’s going to have surgery most likely tomorrow and most likely that will be season-ending for him as well. So there’s two players that are significant. Obviously they are losses, and we have to find some guys to step up and take their spot. Today was more work in the two-minute and more red zone and third down situations.” Can you go into a little bit more depth on the wide receiver situation going into these preseason games? “We’re going to have a chance to watch a lot of young guys get a lot of work. I think that’s pretty obvious, so we’ll see how they do. We have enough numbers here and they’re going to get plenty of work even with the first and second group.” Do you see Patrick Robinson as staying outside or more in the slot? “Right now we are trying to get him back into the fold on the outside. He is someone who we feel like can go inside. But I think just starting off, this week especially, we’re bringing he and Marques (Colston) along and just monitoring the snaps they’re receiving. But in Patrick’s case, it has been outside.” What did you see in Steve Breaston to bring him in? “He’s someone who has experience. His workout was good. He seemed like he was in good shape. There’s a learning curve for him because the system is a little different. We had brought a couple of guys in, so we’ll see how quickly he can acclimate himself. He’ll have a challenge this week just trying to get up to speed to play on Friday. His skill set is a little different than that of Joe Morgan, correct? “Yes, to some degree. He is a guy that can play inside, he’s a guy that can run. He’s been a nickel receiver at Arizona and at Kansas City, so we’ll see how he fits into our system.” A couple of guys who went out today, was that heat related? “Yeah some had some pulls, some had some muscle tightness. We just sat them down and obviously didn’t want to press the issue with them.” New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton talks about injuries to Joe Morgan, Kenyon Coleman |

Re: Holder ~ Morgan torn ACL
This offseason in the NFL will be known as the "Offseason of the ACL"
|
Re: Holder ~ Morgan torn ACL
Also just got texted Galette, PT, Saalim Hakim and Keenan Lewis left the field with trainers..WTF
|
Re: Holder ~ Morgan torn ACL
Ouch. Well that sucks. Morgan started the off season out on a bad note and finished that way. On Coleman... well he was brought in as a player/coach. He'll still be plenty useful on the sidelines.
Looking on the bright side, even more Akiem Hicks and Tom Johnson. We'll be just fine there. WR is looking quite thin so Kenny Stills needs to step up his game and Toon needs to carry his training camp momentum into the season. Depth is my only concern in case of other injuries. But as far as production, we'll be fine. |
Re: Holder ~ Morgan torn ACL
Wow, this is unfortunate.

Re: Holder ~ Joe Morgan(ACL) and Kenyon Coleman(pec) done for season
I'm already concerned, the new rules is benefitting mobile QBs, ones with playmaking receivers, and elite runningbacks.
For our sake, we better run the ball this year. |
Re: Holder ~ Joe Morgan(ACL) and Kenyon Coleman(pec) done for season
Bad news!!

Re: Holder ~ Joe Morgan(ACL) and Kenyon Coleman(pec) done for season
Is it worth seeing what Richard Seymour has left.
He would have worked with Ryan at the Pats and gets the system |

Re: Holder ~ Joe Morgan(ACL) and Kenyon Coleman(pec) done for season
Richard Seymour isn't going to practice or put out for less than 5mil/annum...
And I don't won't an "old guy" who hasn't always been a team player... |
Re: Holder ~ Joe Morgan(ACL) and Kenyon Coleman(pec) done for season
Oh please with the team player cliche ... You don't know the man personally and professionally speaking our guys are dropping like dead flies , he's proven experienced Super Bowl winning , pro bowler who can impact the game immediately and would be a great mentor to hicks Jordan and the others .

Re: Holder ~ Joe Morgan(ACL) and Kenyon Coleman(pec) done for season
I see Danario Alexander,Arrelious Benn both tore ACL today.
Got to be due to the new CBA restrictions and players being to lazy to do decent amounts of fitness work in the offseason. You cant go from just gentle exercise to the cuts the players do and expect the ligaments to hold up.The players may have screwed themselves with these changes |

Re: Holder ~ Joe Morgan(ACL) and Kenyon Coleman(pec) done for season
holy crap.
is there a problem with our practice field? |
Re: Holder ~ Joe Morgan(ACL) and Kenyon Coleman(pec) done for season
What's the problem with the injuries? I just don't get it.
What do they do nowadays that all these players are just dropping like flies? And it's league-wide. |
Re: Holder ~ Joe Morgan(ACL) and Kenyon Coleman(pec) done for season
As i posted before.
Ligaments are easily snapped when not stretch out properly. The players need to be getting into better shape prior to camp.Im not saying every player injured has been lazy but they need to get something sorted as this has got worse since the new CBA rules. |
Re: Holder ~ Joe Morgan(ACL) and Kenyon Coleman(pec) done for season
lee has a solid point/ give me millions and let me do less?
Kenyon Coleman is the biggest hit right now and it will hurt. We have no 34 depth to speak of on the DL. oh baby at this rate can you say 43? |
Re: Holder ~ Joe Morgan(ACL) and Kenyon Coleman(pec) done for season
Hey, let's push TRAINING camp back another couple weeks!
OR Increase roster limits to 60. |
Re: Holder ~ Joe Morgan(ACL) and Kenyon Coleman(pec) done for season
God dang it mother humping butt sex with a cactus ball dragging over broken glass and rusty nails! And ROGER GOODELL!!!!
So with the cursing done. Morgan is a blow but I hope we have some other Young hungry guys ready to earn a pay check. Seymor could be Worth looking into. A good player for sure. |
Re: Holder ~ Joe Morgan(ACL) and Kenyon Coleman(pec) done for season

Sad news, but overcomable.....we still have hungry younger players in the wings ...
|
Re: Holder ~ Joe Morgan(ACL) and Kenyon Coleman(pec) done for season
I fear losing Coleman could hurt the defensive front, especially on their run defense, but other guys just need to step up more - TJ in the forefront.
|
Re: Holder ~ Joe Morgan(ACL) and Kenyon Coleman(pec) done for season
The injury bug is biting a lot of teams.
We will have to see how the Saints respond. |

Re: Holder ~ Joe Morgan(ACL) and Kenyon Coleman(pec) done for season
Junior's hammys started tightening, per Holder
|
Re: Holder ~ Joe Morgan(ACL) and Kenyon Coleman(pec) done for season
Hicks is ready to step up. Depth behind him is a concern.
i'm not as worried about replacing Morgan ability-wise, but digesting a Sean Payton playbook takes time. I'm not sure Breaston has that kind of experience and Robinson's had too many concussions to put his jersey on straight. |

Damn. That's a huge hit. Lets hope one of our young receivers take the bull by the horns.
