Bought a 50" HDTV!!

Every year I consider that but I already have a big screen TV. Someone asked me tonight why I started buying season tickets for a team that is so consistently horrible and I had a hard time answering. Why the heck did I do that? I must have had a lot of money left over that year.

I can tell you're getting tired of going to games like I did. Preseason really chapped my butt. Seriously paying full price for games I could barely watch a quarter or half before leaving. What killed me more was I had to stop buying beer and any food at the dome. It got where I could spend an extra $60 to $80 on gameday, which stunk!

I wish I could talk face to face with the marketing people. For season ticket holders, preseason tickets should be free and then just add the price to the regular season tickets so the face value would go up when you sell those. Non-season ticket holders should have to pay something but not full price.

The defense played well. I like to see that. Glenn Foster had a nice game.

I didnt realise you got stung for full price on preseason games. The soccer games in the UK are normally a little cheaper but the normal season are are getting ridiculous. I have not been to watch my team in years.I live miles away and the price of travel, tickets, hotel anf food when set me back loads.

Sports dont belong to the fans anymore, all the teams care about is the numbers and how tight they can turn the screw before people dont go.

May I assume you missed the first 10 minutes when the chefs starting offense was on the field? They waltzed through our 1st defense like we were playing with 8.

I dunno. I listened to the first half, so no video for me, but I'll watch it tomorrow on DVR.

I'm never looking for much in the pre-season, especially the first game of the pre-season. It sounds like there was some good and some bad. Did anyone really expect much more (or less)?

The problem is that they've turned it as tight as it will go. Fans just can't afford another ticket price increase but the players keep wanting more and more. It's at a saturation point.

Well it's better to finish well than to start well. The Chiefs got, what, like 215 yards total offense in the game. It seems to be our defense overall is going to be quite a bit better than last year. I don't care about ten minutes in a game. I care about the final outcome. Holding a team to such a tiny amount of yards and only 13 points is a good outcome.

Yes, I did. The year we won the Super Bowl, we dominated teams in the preseason. Our offense ran all over everyone's defense and our defense was like a wall. It was easy to tell that team was special and had a chance to go all the way and we did.

The final score of a preseason game is totally meaningless. What you look for is the way your starters play against their starters. The fact that our soon-to-be-cut players beat their soon-to-be-cut players doesn't mean very much.

You mean one 6-1/2 minute drive where they dinked and dunked on our olb's?
Over-react much?

Especially with the fact that the starting OLB's for the game were will smith and jay richardson

Not even the starters

I feel as though RR would not show his hand in the game though, he did not blitz alot from the OLB spot at all

Maybe waiting for week 1 to suprise the clowns

************ It's Pre-season**********

It counts... but in a different way, no one is trying to win until the last Qtr when the worst string is in.

Preseason is where you want to find all the things you can't do, or do poorly.

Did well:

1. Ingram looked 1 yard better than last year.
2. I seem to stand alone on the island where our D did about as good as any against Jamal Charles/ run game.
3. As bad as we looked on the opening drive the Defense ONLY allowed 215 yards the entire game. Yes it's preseason, we laid down 427 yards.

Didn't so well:

1. Linebacker experiment is suspect.
2. Special teams were suspect..... But hasn't McMahons ST always been?

Again..... On defense , it's preseason.... We only looked bad the first drive and our LB corps is an experiment right now. We should stop comparing to 2012, it's apples to oranges.

Rob Ryan stated that fixing the run defense was priority number one. You are not alone Oak. We were clogging the line and getting good push. And thats after we lost "the best run stuffing DE in the NFL".

Yes, its still a work in progress, but I'm liking the progress I see.

I wouldn't like to be Agnew when he turns up for practice next for the Chiefs.
McCown really target him last night

I wouldn't want to be Greg McMahon. Most knowledgable Saints fans are upset that he's still with the club after years of producing subpar results. :pissed:

Re: OFFICIAL SAINTS VS. CHIEFS GAMEDAY THREAD

From what I could piece together from spotty WWL signal here, and just seeing the score, it sounded really sloppy. I didnt get a great look at replay, but initially, Im pleasantly surprised: My #1 concern was pass protection. It looks at least as good as last year. Drew looks "on."

Armstrong looks like a viable option for Charles Brown. I was not disappointed in defense, except I dont understand how Will Smith is going to cover backs. Kenny Vaccaro looks like the real deal, and I was skeptical of the pick.

We are still a pass-first team, and the O-line appear tuned to pass block first.
I'm good with this. We still have PT & Sproles, and Ingram still shows promise, and working off our pass threat, I think our running game will be fine.

Defense is still like a blind date-- I have high hopes, but can make do with less.

-- Drew Brees left the field in one piece, walking on his own feet, so I think we can smile.

I LOVE preseason. They put on their helmets and play football. You get to see who might be a star, a la Pierre Thomas. Real football & cooler weather is coming. Its the most wonderful time of the year.

As far as the issues, I sell my p-season tix, so no big deal. And I'll be making the trip from Texas for the home games, win or lose-- But really, there is no lose. You're in New Orleans.
