In a day and age where the NFL is so concerned with player safety -- and rightfully so -- why must it continue to gouge its fans during the exhibition season. These are "glorified scrimmages'' for heaven's sake. I understand the need to safeguard the health of Drew Brees and other marquee, face-of-the-franchise type players. I understand the need to work off the rust and work out the kinks. I get it.
But charge the patrons a fair price to watch the Luke McCowns and Ryan Griffins and Chase Daniels, etc. Charge a reduced price and don't build these "practice games'' into the cost of a season-ticket package. These are not games, though the NFL likes to refer to them as "preseason'' games. They are exhibitions. I am not a voice in the wilderness. I speak for hundreds of thousands, if not millions of NFL fans who share the same sentiment. Ask the patrons. Check out the empty seats. Hear what those absentee fans have to say. It is outrageously unconscionable of NFL owners (plug in Tom Benson here), almost controlled extortion, to charge fans regular season prices for these dress rehearsal, understudy-filled games. The best thing that can be said about Friday night? One down, three to go. That's what I'd like to hear NFL people -- such as Sean Payton -- say after a preseason game. I'm sorry for that exhibition! - See more at: Payton, Saints take preseason debut at face value |

They just need to reduce the prices of preseason games. They don't need to get rid of them. I prefer this then having to wait football free until the regular season starts.

Jeez, just think of it as a 16 game fee with pre-season thrown in for free.
Semantics guys. Quit your freaking whining. |

Re: Brian Allee-Walsh: Glorified Scrimmages - NFL Continues to gouge its fans during the exhibition season
Just like flipping burgers doesn't need to pay career money, the NFL doesn't need to make ticket prices low enough so burger flippers can make all 4 games.
The reality is that a preseason game in the Super Dome costs $X just to turn on the lights, $Y to have all the employees to show up, fill the concession, pay players, etc..... Regardless of what someone feels the production is worth. Preseason brings out three types of personalities; indifferent, hate, and love.... Do matter what you do that will not change enough to put more azzes into seats for a preseason game. I go and watch because I want to watch my team, all 91, 53, 11 on the field. They are all Saints and I want to watch all of them. |

The prices are way to high for anything. I can afford a game once every couple of years & recently not at all.
Paying crappy average players (Flacco) a 100 million means ticket prices, parking, concessions will keep going up. No body is worth the type of money these guys make & the owners are parasites making more money that god. Sorry for the rant this has & is always a sore spot with me. |

We go through every year. If you like it don't watch. Or don't go. Yet we have people show up to watch practice everyday.
