Our Defense So Far Appears Much Improved
The rest of the NFC South teams are probably starting to sweat profusely and have difficulty swallowing after two decent showings, albeit in the preseason, by the defense. With the very strong likelihood of fresh new blood with the likes of Foster, Vaccaro, Rufus, Jenkins (and I miss a few names), the improvements are beginning to feel as if they will suffice for a possible deep run in post season play. Our WRs look loaded, as do our RBs. If we can keep Mr. Charles Brown in good health, the offense is beyond lethal.
Anybody starting to get excited yet? | |

Re: Our Defense So Far Appears Much Improved
Preseason is often misleading. You're never as bad as it looks, and conversely never as good as it looks.
But I just can't see anyone looking at these first 2 games and following training camp and not concluding that this defense looks vastly improved. Have they ever shown this much talent and ferocity in the Payton regime? Maybe GW's 1st year? I don't think so. This team looks like a prime contender. |

It's early but things are looking up. ILB's looked much better. I also liked the opening line about other teams starting to sweat profusely. I love that. That statement definitely gets a like.

If the D shows up the O doesn't have to "try" to carry the team. That was a big problem in '12. Can you imagine the numbers Brres and the offense will put up if the D can give them 3 or 4 more possessions a game.
Yes, the opponents are starting to sweat. Isn't that sweet. |

Right now, regardless of playing 'vanilla' and the lack of scheming, our players on D are simply beating the man across from them. They're getting pressure with pure athletic ability.
That's extremely encouraging. I have no doubt we'll have at least a middle-of-the-pack defense. |

Re: Our Defense So Far Appears Much Improved
Humber and Jordqn were terrific and until the hurry up to end the first half, the defense as a whole (not hole this year) was tuff. Very encouraging.
Hartley isn't as good as Morstead on kickoffs but he did a pretty good job. He appears to be a mental wuss but he's making the FGs so I can't beat on him too much. Besides, if I did he might just ball up on the floor and whimper. Drew is a beaut. Ingram and Sproles played tough. I dig the kids catching the ball. I'm still not sold on the special teams but from where I sit, we have ourselves a team worthy of getting to the grand finale in February. |

We made Gabbert look like a H.O.F QB in week #2 of the preseason... just sayin' |

Re: Our Defense So Far Appears Much Improved
I am very aware that we look better on defense.......I am also a bit cautious about forecasting anything right now. Maybe after game three.
The young players are looking good. |
