Trying to curb the enthusiasm?
I can appreciate the attempts at tempering the passionate zeal but don't some people do that all season long?
For now we hear "it's preseason" Week 4 "it's too early, we have a long way to go" Week 9 "lets see if we can keep this up first" Week 13 " we need to stay healthy before ill buy in" Week 17 "playoff football is different from regular season football" After we win the Super Bowl "yea, but can we three peat?" Here is the rub, if the overly enthusiastic are right then you are headed for an I told you so, if they are wrong and we tank the season, well.... You just missed your opportunity to enjoy what could be the only enjoyable part of it. A small % of people never learn how to enjoy anything. Now, if you don't mind, I am going to go watch how good we looked against the Raiders..... again. |

Re: Trying to curb the enthusiasm?
Love it
If we aren't allowed to get excited over a couple good performances from preseason then whats the point in even watching at all. Would everyone rather us get trounced, then all we would hear is how bad we are going to be this season. Think how long we have been waiting in the offseason, I for one am liking how our team looks and I'm excited to see how we look in the regular season |

Re: Trying to curb the enthusiasm?
Man, this is so true. People need to learn to appreciate the times and just enjoy it.
It wasn't but 10 years ago or so that most people were happy with a decent record and a chance at a wildcard playoff spot. Sean Payton has SPOILED US!!! Now if we don't look top notch and click on all cylinders, every quarter, of every game, there are complaints. Last year, with no head coach, and worst defense of all time, we still managed to win almost half of our games. Most teams would have had the 1st pick in the draft. We should all understand that our offense will not score 62 points every game, and our defense will not hold everyone to 10 points and below every game. Bottom line is we are STILL DOMINANT! ENJOY IT! |

Re: Trying to curb the enthusiasm?
I am super excited about this season! It appears we will be ready with something to prove with Sean's return. Not sure I even have many concerns. That said I hope Ryan's D can bring it strong down the final stretch, I don't think he has been a strong finisher in the past. I am ready for some football!!!

Re: Trying to curb the enthusiasm?
Being optimistic never hurt anyone. Pessimism can lead to anxiety, stress, and a general feeling of malaise. It's great to be a Saints fan! And remember, we never know which day will be our last, so if my last day happens to occur on a day where the Saints have won a game, any game, I'll be marching into heaven with a hearty,"Who Dat?", for all my fellow Saints fans who have gone before me! Who Dat?!!!

Re: Trying to curb the enthusiasm?
LOL, being excited or enthusiastic won't hurt a single thing about this team come week 1. In fact, if anything the players feed off of fan excitement. It can only help.
Someone give me one reason why us fans shouldn't be excited about this team. Anyone??? They don't sell thousands and thousands of books on how to be more negative. |

Re: Trying to curb the enthusiasm?
I'm excited about now [I]and[I] the future...lot of talented young players, drafted and undrafted. As long as we win more games than lose against the taterheads in this division, I'm happy. Sweeping the division warrants streaking around N.O.P.D. headquarters in broad daylight.
