Colston expected to travel to Houston; playing status TBD
METAIRIE, La. — Receiver Marques Colston will travel to Houston for the Saints’ preseason game against the Texans on Sunday, but coach Sean Payton will wait and see whether he’ll play.
“He’s going to make the trip,” Payton said. “I really want to see how he feels after today’s practice and see how tomorrow morning is after he moved around. H e practiced pretty well today or he did more today than he has to date. We’ll kind of play it by ear.” Colston has yet to play in a preseason game and has missed practices intermittently after beginning the season on the physically unable to perform list with a foot issue. Payton said there’s a chance he plays some in the fourth and final preseason game just to get some work in before the regular season begins. Cornerback Patrick Robinson, meanwhile, is set to play for the first time this preseason after beginning camp on the PUP. Payton said the fourth-year defensive back has had a good week of practice and that because he’s just now getting into the swing of things, may end up playing in some of the fourth and final preseason game. Linebackers Jonathan Vilma and Will Herring haven’t been ruled out by Payton, though the former hasn’t practiced since undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery nearly two weeks ago. Herring practiced for the second day in a row after missing two workouts earlier in the week. The news wasn’t nearly as good for fullback Jed Collins, who missed his third consecutive practice Friday, sitting out with what Payton described as “small injury.” Collins likely won’t go to Houston, though Payton said the injury isn’t significant. Linebackers Jonathan Vilma (left knee) and Junior Galette (undisclosed) along with receiver Joseph Morgan (left knee) were out. Morgan will most likely end up on the injured reserve after partially tearing his meniscus and tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in the Black & Gold scrimmage. Linebacker Chris Chamberlain continues to be excused from practice to tend to what Payton called family matters. Colston expected to travel to Houston; playing status TBD | wwltv.com New Orleans |
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.
All little common sense goes a long way. |

IDK but I'm sure he could have used the practice and the preseason games to get back into the swing of things. I like JV, but I wonder how effective he will be if he comes back. I'd rather him not use the first few season games as "warm ups".

Anyone getting a lil worried about Junior Galette and Martez Wilson missing so much practice?
Before Camp started these were two of our top candidates for the OLB spots. |

Hell yes. It sure would be nice to see our "starting" defense on the field at the same time BEFORE the season begins.

EDIT:
Didn't see that JR was already ruled out... disappointing considering that no starters will play in P4; which means the first time JR and Wilson play it will be live. |

But will they be healthy... Gallete's status is still unknown to us. He could have a serious injury for all we know, the guy hasn't put on pads for weeks. Even Wilson threw some pads on and they said his injury would take 4 weeks to heal. Could be strategic games being played or could be something we all fear; an injury that could linger all season.

Wasn't Wilson fitted for a brace and seeing some snaps in practice?

The fact they haven't been getting reps in "live" situations is valid for concern... |
