Saints Texans Take aways
Because preseason is not about wins and losses its all about individual performances...
Who shocked, amazed, made you take notice in yesterdays game? Immediately the first thing that comes to mind are two thought competing for shocked in my book. Stills - That catch was just WOW! Ingram - For the record the Saints have the best tandem screen backs in the league... in this decade... Ingram shocked me with his hands and ability to gain ground on that screen to him. Then Toon - This kid is very good Lewis - Burnt 3 times... However it was Johnson and one had some puch off. Robinson - To see Khiry run with my own eyes amazing. We have a lot of depth.. a ton. Where some teams have 9s as starters and 4s as back ups on defense Ive got a feeling we have 7-8s as starters and 6-7s as back ups. I know we started off slow yesterday and I remember a txt from a good friend before we put points on the board asking "are you screaming loud enough yet"? I thought for a second.. Why am i not yelling? Then I remembered, I do not yell in the first Qtr because as any long time Saints fan knows we are historically a slow starting team. I have been conditioned like Pavlov's dog. |

I'm still torn between him and Cadet. |

For me he is a lot like PT, I do not need to see a number or a name (at this point I do not know the new numbers anyway).. When Robinson was running I could tell just from watching the ball slalom through defenders. For me my mind is made up, its more about Cadet having ball security than anything else. Honestly Adrien Peterson is a beast... I wouldn't have wanted him in 2009 when he was putting the ball on the turff... but thats me |

Re: Saints Texans Take aways
Ingrams speed has improved, when he caught that screen pass he just planted and took off upfield
Lewis - gets caught looking at the QB to much and bites on double moves Stills - just wow, safe to say his first game he had some nerves because the last two he has been straight out ballin That catch was incredible, watch the replay of it. Cam jordan and bunkley nearly run on the field they are that excited about it. And you can even see brees shouting and smiling. Toons going to be awesome, had a drop where the DB reached in and stripped the ball. He runs well and is a big target though Ben watson - very underrated addition Our O line is terrible without jahri evans Khiry robinson has great vision and better than advertised speed, he breaks tackles well Preston parker should handle punt/kick returns and save sproles FB Austin Johnson - where did this guy come from? Anyone see the moves he made when catching the ball, juking then bowling over somebody. Also made a great block on ingrams 20 yard run |

On that amazing Stills catch... In Reliant Stadium i was surprised but they replayed that catch no less than 10 times on the big screen... From every angle they had.. He actually robbed that defender from an INT as the defender had a better line on it. ... Was a little behind Stills.

What really impressed me about stills is not only that catch, but on his TD catch did you see the move he put on jonathan joseph (pro bowl CB) he totally faked him out and made the TD look easy |

I was impressed that Hartley's kicks seemed to be STRAIGHT and not wobbly, or going at weird angles to the goal posts. I missed seeing a couple of them by being out of the room but the ones I did see looked straight through the middle. Fingers crossed.

I could see the trend of starting slow ending.

Re: Saints Texans Take aways
Nick Toon, Kenny Stills and Andy Tanner all impressed me. I really wish we could keep all three on the 53.
Ingram looked pretty good. PT looked like PT. McCown didn't do too bad either. I would have liked to see more pressure from the defense. Keenan Lewis got burned a couple times. That first quarter was scary as hell. The Texans ran all over the defense. I didn't like seeing that. |
