Honestly, ANY breathing body that has played OLB in a 3-4 is better than Will Smith. That was a train wreck waiting to happen. I feel the FO was doing Will a solid by letting him stay and switching positions. I think once Wilson and Gallette come back Fresh Prince's playing time would have significantly decreased.

I like the move for Haralson. Like I said anything is better than Will Smith. I cringed watching him chase down RBs in the open field during the first 2 games of PS.

This is always the way it was going to go for Will. He would have found playing time at OLB, but mostly on rushing plays and lining up w his hand in the dirt.

I hate it went down like this for Smith especially considering all this man has done for the franchise.

Will is part of his own situation... A lot of the reason things went down the way they did was because of how expensive he was... With out the crippling dead money he may have been traded by now to a team where he could have played DE for a few more years. He was so expensive that we had to find something for him to do...

If he makes the roster.

I'm guessing he will as we could use the experience but it'll probably come at the expense of Rufus Johnson... though he'll probably land on our practice squad.

I don't know about that. Rufus is basically a Jack LB. Haralson plays mostly SAM. Right now I'm thinking Rufus is 60/40 to make the roster.

Haralson allows Wilson and Galette to focus on playing the WOLB spot.

How many LB'ers do you envision us keeping? If we keep 7, something is going to have to give. If we keep 8, his chances go up slightly... but I still don't see him making the team imo. My preference is to keep an extra lineman on either side of the ball or a secondary guy who excels on special teams than the extra linebacker. So if Haralson makes the team, for me, I just don't see it. But if we do go that route and keep an extra LB, I don't see Rufus helping us much out this year as opposed to some of the other LB's that are on the bubble. This isn't me knocking Rufus at all, I just don't feel he's ready to contribute which is why the PS imo, is the most logical scenario for both sides.

As much as I think he is a genius, Will's contract was one of Loomis' dumber moments. FO should have cut/traded him before the big money years hit. Since they didn't, we got this situation on our hands
