So now that we have Mike McKenzie, does this mean he won\'t play for us unless and until we give him a new contract?

McKenzie, 28, is in the third year of a five-year, $17.1 million contract. Loomis said he had no plans to rework that contract this season and had discussed the situation with McKenzie.

\"I made it very clear that everything he\'s done in Green Bay is great,\" Loomis said. \"He\'s proven he can play in the league and he\'s proven he\'s a good player, but he hasn\'t done anything for the New Orleans Saints yet. So he needs to come here and see where he fits in and get a track record with the Saints.\"

That\'s what McKenzie intends to do, said his agent, Drew Rosenhaus.

\"We\'re comfortable with the game plan of working our way through the season and addressing (the contract) after the season,\" Rosenhaus said. \"We talked to the team about addressing it after the year, and that\'s our target right now. Mike is thrilled to be a Saint, and the contract is not an issue right now.\"
