The Meachem Experiment in San Diego Ends This Week!
San Diego Chargers release WR Robert Meachem, who's due $5 million - NFL News | FOX Sports on MSN
Spanos will be giving up 5 million on this release. Sounds like he's getting serious! Saints fans didn't seem too upset when New Orleans let him walk. That should have said something. lol |

I think this shows just how much confidence the Saints organisation has in Mickey Loomis, Sean Payton and Drew Brees. They knew they could find a gem, who would likely be cheaper and more durable and would fit right in.
As of right now, I cannot see anyone who wouldn't want Stills, Toon, Morgan and Tanner over Meachem, and I mean comparative to what Meachem offered when he left us. Great guy, served us well (maybe not so much as a 1st round pick but generally) and I am disappointed to see his career possibly end like this. Unfortunately, just not good enough. |
Re: The Meachem Experiment in San Diego Ends This Week!
True... Saints didn't use him the way the Chargers planned to. He is NOT Vincent Jackson. Stupid AJ Smith brought him in to fill Jackson's shoes. That was not going to happen.
Then there is the other problem... going from Payton to Norv. That's going to decrease anybody's career. He might have been good if used correctly and for half the money. |

All we ca do is wait and see if Stills can do as hoped... If he can, holy crap can you imagine Stills and Morgan scorching up both hashes next year? |

Last season he just dropped too many passes that shouldn't have been dropped.

Then again..... Would you say that Rivers is an accurate passer? :) |

Yes. There is a reason that after two bad season, Chargers fans aren't calling for his head. Had Brees stayed here, he would have had to deal with the same circus created by AJ and Norv and still would not have a ring today. If you don't fix the offensive line and establish a running game, it doesn't matter who your quarterback is. |

49 sacks in the last two seasons... That's a really bad offensive line. |

At least he can afford to retire.

I love our new coaching staff! Look what McCoy did with Delome, Orton, and Teabow. Whisenhunt was an amazing offensive coordinator in Pittsburgh and really revived Warner's career in Arizona. Though we are still dangerously thin at a lot of key spots, we have the right guys in charge! |
Re: The Meachem Experiment in San Diego Ends This Week!
Meachem has his moments. The forced fumble the recovery for a TD in the Washington game will always stand out. Him missing his entire rookie season stands out too.

I believe in K-Stills!

Maybe he could have been good if used properly BUT he's not Vincent Jackson. |
