Re: OFFICIAL SAINTS V FALCONS GAMEDAY THREAD
Keys to win / lose …
Other than the obvious turnover battle, 1. Stop the run on 1st down. We looked good doing it in preseason, but it was preseason 2. Cover that intermediate area between LB’s and Safeties. We had some trouble with this area during preseason. Our LB’s aren’t the best at covering and this is obviously an area Atlanta will try to exploit all game long. We’ll be forced to bring safeties up, which leaves us susceptible to that throw just behind them leading to those 20-25 yard gains. 3. Be aware of the screen and dump offs. Even though it’s a familiar defense, its still a different one. Communication between players is gonna be huge. Jackson and Rodgers catche the ball well and you know Atlanta wants to see if that dink and dunk used on us in preseason still works. Lots of new players and a new scheme typically results in confusion. Hopefully we’ve jelled enough to minimize the dink and dunks. 4. Get up early and force the Falcons to be one-dimensional. I don’t think they can play catch-up well enough to catch us if we go up by two scores. They’ll panic and choke. 5. Don't beat ourselves with penalties and turnovers, and don't get cute with stupid trick plays. If we play our A-game, its impossible for Atlanta to beat us. |
