Overall Observations

1. Brees played a very good game today despite being under alot of pressure and without much of a running attack. His deep throws are just not there. Could be timing. Could be arm strength. At times, he forces the ball downfield when he doesn't need to or the situation doesn't call for it. Not complaining. Just obsevations.
2. The O-Line is good at best. Probably closer to average. Evans, the best of the bunch, had his worst game as a Saint. I hope it's rust and not injury related. The Saints are going to need his All-Pro play.
3. The Saints offense is too predictable. With Ingram in the game it's a run. With Sproles in the game it's mostly pass and asking him to pass block is hard to watch. PT should be on the field most of the time and let the others sub in situationally.
4. The Saints should call the Steelers or Dolphins and see if they want Ingram. He just doesn't fit what the Saints do and mostly how they use him. He needs to be on the field to be effective and it's just not going to happen under the current system. A rotation of Thomas, Robinson, and Sproles will be just as effective if not more so than the current one. It's painful to watch Ingram's frustration and at some point it's going to be a distraction and a negative. If it isn't already.
5. Colston is a beast.
6. Stills was a steal in the draft. Not to knock an injured guy, but he's so much better than Morgan and it's not even close.
7. Hartley had looked very solid.
8. The defense flew around and played hard today.
9. Jordan and Hicks are beasts.
10. Vaccaro should hit the QB atleast once a game late or not. LOL. Ryan was not as confident after KV popped him.
11. PH was a great pickup from the 40whiners. He can play the run and pass and brings some extra speed and thump to the D.
12. JR said he would be ready and he was. An above average athlete who has the heart of a lion.
13. Hawthorne is better than Vilma.
14. White made some plays today and I like the way he hits as a CB.
15. Having the Head Coach back today was the difference.
16. Watson makes plays and moves the chains.
17. Herring made a couple plays today a looked good on special teams.
18. The injuries on the DL are not good.
19. T. Johnson flashed a little today. Suprising and good.
20. Hopefully Ryan will call his Brother and get some insight on how they stopped Tampa's run game.
21. 1-0. Beat the Falclowns. WHO DAT!

Re: Overall Observations

Good observations. I don't know about Ingram. I don't think it is as much his fault as the scheme.

How did Lewis do? Did he force the fumble on Jones?

My interpretation was that, for at least two or three of the deep throws, the situation there WAS calling for, trying to test the Falcons' unproven rookie safeties/corners, fairly early in the game. It wasn't just wildly throwing it deep because Drew suddenly decided he felt like it -- we knew the Saints were going to be testing the Falcons suspect rookie deep guys. And that's what it was. When it didn't work, and the Falcon rookies looked pretty good defending/deflecting the deep balls (I remember two of them kinda early on), then the Saints went to other plays.

Re: Overall Observations

Definitely agree with the trade suggestion. Some other observations...

1. Holding/Illegal blocking on special teams has got to stop. Was there a single punt return that wasn't flagged?

2. We dodged a bullet on the Falcon's last play. I haven't seen the replay enough to tell who it was, but someone got to Ryan just as he threw the ball. Unfortunately, he grabbed Ryan by the collar and pulled him down. I could definitely see that as being called giving the Falcons a fresh set of downs.

I saw that as well and was astounded the refs didn't throw a flag.

That would be Mr. Lofton... In fact, there were about three Saints in his immediate vicinity, but Lofton was the one with the death grip on ole Skid
