this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Say he's an option at a 5 or 6 would you want him as a Saint. I would. He can make tough throws and seems like he has matured enough especially if he continues to have a decent season....

Re: Would pull the trigger on Mettenburger?
No. Jesus i have been praying these "Lets get every LSU player we can" threads wouldnt start until the offseason. Just because they come out of LSU doesnt mean they need to be here. Johnny Football is another story.

Re: Would you pull the trigger on Mettenburger?
IF we must, I don't think Zach is the answer as Drews replacement. I think we still have another year or two after this with Drew at the helm and would like to see how this read option QB experiment works out. It may be a flash in the pan but if it is indeed the future for QBs I would rather try and go that direction.
I really do like Johnny Football though, he needs to mature a bit, but his antics may just hurt his draft status enough for him to fall close to our pick. Payton will straighten him out if need be. |

Payton has shown zero interest in players that need to be straightened out. I tend to think that is one of the reasons that Ivory is no longer a Saint. |

Lol. You have to admit half their players are in the NFL. I won't bring up anymore players but Brees is almost tapped out.

Re: Would you pull the trigger on Mettenburger?
This thread is like a dog where you throw a piece of meat on the ground, nice steak, and he won't eat it because he sees that you have another tiny little piece of meat in your hand, and he wants you to drop that one too, because he knows he already has the piece of meat that's on the floor right by him, he knows if you threw it on the floor it's his, so he's looking up at you, panting, watching you, wanting for you to drop the other little piece of meat, too. It's silly.
