Chris Simms to start Sunday
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Bucs coach Jon Gruden informed Brad Johnson that Chris Simms will take over as the starting quarterback for the immediate future.
Simms was inactive Sunday against the Broncos behind Johnson and Brian Griese and there was some speculation that Gruden could go with Griese. After meeting with Johnson Monday, Gruden needed the night to think about whether or not to make a change. Johnson was replaced by Simms a couple weeks ago after 15 plays. In four games, Johnson completed 63.1 percent of his passes for 647 yards and three touchdowns and three interceptions. His quarterback rating was 79.5, but the offense as a whole was going nowhere. Simms gives the Bucs more mobility in the pocket, but it may be tough for him to turn around an offense in transition. He's completed 21 of 33 passes for 175 yards, a 5.3 yard per attempt average that more than a yard lower than Johnson's. He was sacked four times and doesn't have a touchdown pass. -- ESPN.com's John Clayton http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1895895 Ohh fun , a rookie quarterback to get his first start against the Saints ... I just cringed ........ :bandhead: |

\"but it may be tough for him to turn around an offense in transition.\"
Oh yeah? Wait until their offense plays our defense. The paralzed somehow find a way to run on us. Pittman will have a monster day and people will start scrambling to pick him up for their fantasy league. Simms will look like a pro-bowler and all the Gruden lovin\' media will be talking SuperBowl for the Bucs next year. The Bucs are very similar to the Cardinals. Horrible offense, very steady and strong defense. If we keep getting flagged for False starts our offense is doomed before it can get going. Their offense will put up points against us, we all know that. We\'ll see what Saint\'s team shows up...Dr. Jekyl or Mr. Hyde. |

Chris Simms to start Sunday
Saints fans should start getting aquainted with Chris Simms. He will be the permanent starter once Brad Johnson retires. This guy is a lot more mobile than Brad, and he can run pretty well, too... |
