Brees

Glad we got the win yesterday. That being said, Brees needs to get his sh** together. When he's on he's arguably the best QB in the league... but when he's off, he makes some of the worst decisions in the league, and I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I rarely see him get called for it. Yesterday's game was a good example of a trend that has developed over the last couple of years. I could tell from the very beginning of the game that he wasn't sharp, and I could understand that against a tough defense in the rain on the road. What's not understandable IMHO is how his decision-making has gotten questionable. When I used to watch Brees a few years ago, if he was given a good pocket and he stepped up in the pocket and launched one downfield, my gut told me that it was going to be a complete pass. Now when he throws, I've been conditioned to sort of hold my breath to see where he's throwing it. That's come from increasingly bad decisions with the football over the past couple of years, and last night's INTs, especially the second, were a good example. In that spot, a guy making Brees money simply cannot make that error. Thank god for the defense because they bailed him out, but in my mind it still doesn't excuse him from that kind of throw. That being said, he's still one of the top three QBs in the league, but I'm worried about his increasingly high number of bad decisions with the football.

Who Dat!

We are a rhythm based offense, an hour rain out doesn't help rhythm. Drew had a very bad game, they all do from time to time.

It doesn't help one but when Sean Payton is knocking off rust and running a back trying to give him confidence.

His INTs were inexcusable, but I did notice one thing, he seems to by trying to learn to take a sack. A few times he thought and almost pulled his panicky shovel pass but didn't.

If I know Drew, he's kicking himself in the head this morning, because he knows he had a bad game. He will work his *** off this week to try to correct it.

He played a bad game. Pulled it out in the end but it was fortunate at best. Ingram is a mystery to me.

Games like this makes me want a power back. There will be more games like this.

He had a bad game but in the end, he pulled it together and marched his team right down the field for the winning score. To me that is more important than the rest of it.

You need to win ugly games. We have a pretty picture in our heads of the 09 season but we won some ugly games early in the season. The Bills and Jets games especially.

I think Defenses are learning how to play against Brees. Since he's undertall (wont use the "s" word on him) amd since he doesnt run, it's better to just push up the middle, clog up the passing lanes and contain him. I noticed several plays where we rolled him out the pocket. Redskins effectively used a controlled dropback/rollout when Theismann played.

That is easier said than done.... As far as not being able to run... P. Manning, T. Brady...

Drew was hanging on to the ball. Normally nothing matters to Drew, he can dink and dunk you to death... For some reason he was hesitant last night, a few times we had an open short pass and he didnt take it.

Brees is getting older, all qbs do. He has lost a step no doubt. He made some bad decisions that contributed to us almost losing. Without Drew though we lose for sure. The play of the line isnt helping. Hes a smart guy and whatever he loses in accuracy, arm strength, etc, he can make up for by playing smart. Hopefully he will start making better decisions.
This being said he is still one of the top qbs in the league and can keep us going as contenders for the next year or two after this one. I think it is time to look for his replacement though.
It is more important than ever now to build that offensive line the best we can.
The loss of Kromer was huge

Re: Brees

The two interceptions yesterday were REAL bad. Normally Drew's interceptions are from throwing into deep coverage, but yesterday they were directly into the breadbasket of defenders with no one else around. That seems to point to a major lack of focus no?
