this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Drew Brees said after Wednesday’s practice. “He certainly has no regard for the rules in the middle (of the field). He is going after guys heads ... you can see it.” Thats dirty play....

Re: Drew Brees: Dashon Goldson "has no regard for the rules in the middle "of the field"
When the rushers have more defenders than the offense, by 1, then the rest of the field is EVEN.
Odds are that the QB can find an open man if he can create time and see beyond what is converging upon him. That may take movement, Drew. Learn that. The given may take blocking. Learn that. The rest requires catching. Learn that. It's really very simple. Alaska |

Re: Drew Brees: Dashon Goldson "has no regard for the rules in the middle "of the field"
I dunno, I look at it like, Drew Brees is explaining their own rules to the NFL. Taken in that light, it's completely arrogant and cocky, which I like. And notice how after Drew spoke up, the fines started flying. Any competitive advantage that's within the rules is fair game to be exploited; working the refs to your advantage is a part of the game, so why not off the field as well? Next time the refs will be looking for hits, there will be a fine history in place for them so the fines will be larger, greater scrutiny to these players and their dirty coach. If worrying about a hit or a fine against a Saints star player makes the defense hesitate and slows them down for a fraction of a second, that fraction of a second could be the difference next time between a sack and a TD.
