I still get that excited feeling every time he drops back.
Look, I am under no delusions that he is playing as well as he did in 2009 or 2011. His release doesn't seem as quick and he looks like he is feeling pressured even sometimes when he's not. But he is still freaking Drew Brees man. Where would we be without him? Once the offensive line gets it together and we get a little better in the run game (and I 100% believe these things will happen, it's just a matter of time) he'll start looking like the unstoppable Drew Brees we know. |

Re: Drew Brees 2013
Brees is under way more pressure this year, that is the main difference. His long balls have looked a little short at times, but give him time and he is still awesome.

Re: Drew Brees 2013
Yes, I can readily admit that there are times where brees is winding up I'm a little scared but it's more of an excited scared. I came to grips a long time ago that he has a little favre in him (ex. throwing a jump ball to our shortest wideout lance moore which was an int yesterday) but this is one of the main reasons I love him. He gives his guys an opportunity to make plays. It's just sometimes the wrong guy makes the play.
At the end of the day, I'd still rather have him over anyone else in the league including aaron rodgers. |

Re: Drew Brees 2013
HE is getting older, and some of his accuracy seems to have deminished but even so he is still better than 95% of the QBs in the league. I do think it is time to draft a QB. Let him sit behind Brees for a couple more years and let him take over. I think Brees has 2 more seasons in him. One thing I have noticed is that he is MUCH better about taking a sack. Instead of dumping it off when he goes down he tucks it and takes the sack. Most of his interceptions have been because he was in trouble going down and tried to pitch the ball.

Anyways, as many are pointing out - the O-line is in a bad way this year. One consequence of is Drew Brees getting licked (more). Another is that he is in "greater hurry up release" (for want of a better grammar). |

Re: Drew Brees 2013
I think it has to do with his confidence in the o-line. He's taken some big hits so I think he's feeling pressure, making snap judgements when he doesn't have to leading to some poor decisions, like the pass to Mason Foster last week and then going through his throwing technique quicker than required leading to under throwing his receivers on long passes.
(I re-watched the Bucs game and that pass was to Foster, it wasn't a bad pass to someone else) If the o-line gets better then I think he'll settle down. |
