Re: MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
I don't like Atlanta on the road with a short week. Thursday night road teams have a .362 winning percentage (2006-2012). That's much lower than the standard road percentage of .432. Couple that with the fact that they play the 9ers, a very physical team, just four days before, and I think it's a very distinct disadvantage.
I'm very surprised that the Saints have had that exact scenario two years in a row. |

However, if we were to play them they would have knocked off Seattle. I actually am not gonna jump to conclusions with SF, as they put up a tank job the last time they were to play a Thursday night game. Harbaugh is a mental coach and plays the mental game well. I don't believe SF played all their hand in that game but the way they lost showed their defense has issues. KC did the same thing the week before, laying low on offense while playing hard on defense. It worked. If we play conservative against SF or only play one side of the ball at top form then we could play well with the other side against Atlanta. I know trends are meant to be broken. But since the early 90s, there hasnt been back to back series splits with us and Atlanta. And Atlanta is gonna end up 4-6 or worse when we play them again. Meaning we are in position to give them 7 losses like they did us last year. |

I think we stomp Miami at home. Chicago looks really good and New England looks extremely beatable. The only game on the bad end that concerns me is Seattle for obvious reasons.

Atlanta is the most important for us to win and they are always tough at home. The travel to SF and Seattle is a disadvantage. Seattle is for real. They are a very tough team. SF looks to be in a slump but can still be dangerous and have always played us tough since the days when they were in our division. Its still early in the season and Mia, New England and Chicago seem to have some problems. IMO these next three games will be tough but not as tough as the other 3. |

Re: MIA, CHI, NE - The real gauntlet??
I'm really hoping the team is just focused on MIA right now.
As far as this thread goes, the SF, SEA, and ATL will all be bloodbaths with all the history we have with each of them. I'd be content to get swept these next 3 as long as we sweep THOSE 3 games. Not happy losing 3 straight at any point (obviously), but the SF-SEA-ATL starts Week 11. I'd take a set-back NOW and get it really rolling NOV-DEC on into FEB14. That's my opinion: tank 3 now but rockin' it later...if we weren't 3-0 now, my outlook would be completely different. |

Miami.
The buzz down here is incredible. Second coming of the 72 Dolphins. Just w/o the awesome defense or the all world RBs. (Hah!) Seriously though I can't look that far ahead. Miami is the only team I can see. |
