Some might consider that hyperbole, but you're actually spot on.

That game....heck, even that moment (the blocked punt) shifted the direction of expectations for the Saints. No longer was the team going to be content with 8-8 seasons year after year. While things weren't always perfect after that day, and the Saints would make plenty of mistakes afterwards.....but one thing was crystal clear: the culture had changed.

It was evident even in the next week, in a road game against Carolina. The Saints ultimately ended up losing, but they fought, scratched, and battled the entire game to where I remember not even being angry after the loss. I knew they gave their all, and I specifically remember Troy Aikman correctly predicting that "these Saints are gonna win a lot of ball games this season", even when it was obvious they were gonna fall short on that day.

Awesome play.

But I really feel for Gleason & his family. I have a co-worker who is going through this & it kills me to see him.

Re: Seven Years Ago Today

Seven years ago today, my neighbors learned I was a Saints fan.

(After all the yelling, they came over to make sure everything was OK)

Re: Seven Years Ago Today

I spent time with Steve and his family this week and I can tell you that they are the very best people in the world. And whilst it is difficult not to feel sorry for him because of this, the most cruel way to take someone's life, I can tell you that he genuinely gets on with it each day and keeps fighting. Keeps living.

I wasn't at the game in 2006 but my subsequent love affair with the city of New Orleans was solidified in that one moment. When my hero became even bigger of a hero in the way he handles his ALS, I never thought that one day I would have the chance to also call him and his family my friends.

Anybody need inspiration for a 4-0 on Monday night? I don't think we need much more! WHO DAT!

I haven't seen it, that is yet.
I haven't been to the MB Superdome, yet.

That is my story and I am sticking to it.
(Marital reasons)
BTW, I love the walk to the Dome from the Marriott on Canal.

Re: Seven Years Ago Today

I was there. In that end zone. 18 rows from the field. With my Dad and two best friends.

Not a dry eye in that section that I could see.

Next to being in the French Quarter for the Superbowl win, that's my top sports moment.
