4-0

We are now 4-0. Defense is playing great!

What is left to say?

Just curious.

Is it safe to say that this defense is for real yet?

Re: 4-0

I hate to say it but the offense has exploded the last two weeks without Mark Ingram. I believe that is not a coincidence.

RIght now we are 1st in the NFC:

NFC South Champ Wins tie break over Seattle based on strength of victory.

Re: 4-0

sitting VERY pretty. Way ahead in the division. I have no doubt we will beat the Bears next week and thats the one that really counts. Not real scared of NE either.

KR is gonna be one hell of a back

Beastmode 09-30-2013 11:11 PM

Re: 4-0

We have put the rest of the South in a very bad situation. Not even halfway through and they are all deeper than New Orleans is below sea level.

Re: 4-0

Very obvious we can't run the ball ... Sad we had to keep throwing Drew was turning down TDs because we didn't want to run the score up ... But that's the only way we move the ball

Re: 4-0

Great win before hitting the road trip we are about to go on. I think we can take Chi at home but am a little worried.

westbankdaze 09-30-2013 11:13 PM

Re: 4-0

We still have no running game. Our OLine cannot get push and KR didn't get much yardage early in the game.

Still, who cares? If we intend to screen pass the hell out if teams then so be it. Go with what works I say.

Beastmode 09-30-2013 11:13 PM

Re: 4-0

Every team has their weakness and ours is running. I have faith though that it can improve..pulling a guard, stills on a reverse. More movement in the backfield. It's too one dimensional. Wherever Brees hands it off that's where it's going. Gotta fix it.

Re: 4-0

If stupid Houston had held on against the Seahawks I would feel better, even though we are #1 based on tiebreakers as of now.

Beastmode 09-30-2013 11:35 PM

Re: 4-0

It would be a first to roll into the playoffs with no run game. Don't think I have ever seen it but I would not be surprised. With the right players it can be done and we have those players. I think teams were daring Brees to beat them but he's actually getting better and more accurate. I could see Chicago going the opposite direction hoping Robinson fumbles and abandoning the run defense.

Someone tonite said that our short passing game (especially to Sproles out the backfield) IS our run game. Works for me.

CharityMike 09-30-2013 11:40 PM

Re: 4-0

If someone told me at the start of the season our defense, after 4 games, would have 14 sacks, 7 INT and 6 FF, i would have said pass the dutchie.

Excellent point. It's a quasi run game but just as effective.

Nope. In fact I think he would be playing the best ball of his career if it wasnt for the line. Hes having to run for his life and STILL makes clutch throws.

Re: 4-0

Drew had a passer rating of 144 tonight. Awesome!

And we are on pace for 48 sacks! Our D-line is f***ing relentless! I love it I love I love it!

why? this is the same group we had for years under williams. this system is nothing new to them

now if you told me we were going to be solid in run defense i would be shocked. the right side of the defense is very sharp but the left? not so much.

JR run defense at OLB still leaves a lot to be desired. he played very poorly against the run and one or two good plays can not cover it up.

Re: 4-0

I think the only thing keeping this team from being better than the Super Bowl year is the offensive line. However, the play of the defense is negating their piss-poor play.

skipped a year or two but the infusion of youth to the defense has done the saints well

I'm proud of you brother, it's not easy to be optimistic after last season for any of us, 2012 and 2013 are different seasons in that last year we tried to be optimistic about our defense and got burnt so naturally that let down carried over into this season. This season it seems some people have the "too good to be true" going on but with 4 weeks of wins and no let down by the defense yet or in sight I've let go of 2012. While the ground game could be a lot better, Sean is compensating with the short passing game and we are getting it done, which is what championship caliber teams do!

Welcome to 2013! :)

SP is using the weapons he has, he is a master of at utilizing his playbook. He is one Coach that doesn't beat a dead horse, if it doesn't work on to the next.

Re: 4-0

Payton's scheming ability will hide our weakness until we face an opponent that has the personnel to cover our bevy of receivers one on one.

IMO, our biggest threat is Seattle. I'm not even afraid of San Fran.

Agreed

Only reason san fran beat us last year is because brees gave them 14 points, we nearly beat them with the worst D in NFL history

Our D is awesome now, weve got a difficult stretch of games and the bears shouldnt be looked past, playing at soldier field will be tough

Budsdrinker 10-01-2013 09:19 AM

Re: 4-0

Bears don't scare me and we should be able to run on them. Reggie did. Texans should have beat Seattle. Shaub takes a sack instead of forcing the ball they punt the ball and Seattle has to drive and score which they couldn't do all game. Not saying our D is as good as Texans but we're getting close. Come gametime vs seachickens I can see Ryan putting 8 in the box and forcing Wilson to throw. The key will be putting a spy on Wilson just like the Texans did. Right now the only team that scares me is the Broncos so we don't have to worry about that until February!

73Saint 10-01-2013 09:34 AM

Re: 4-0

Yeah, very glad we don't have the Broncos on our schedule this year, until post-season anyway...
