Saints Show Little Class In Win

When it comes to professional athletes you never want to wish ill harm on someone. Football is an incredibly intense and physical game and injuries happen. Unfortunately none came at the expense of Drew Brees last night. It’s a shame when your team is facing an 18 point lead with less than five minutes in a game and you keep your starting QB in the game to score more points. Let’s face reality here…the Saints were not looking to run out the clock.
Drew Brees stayed in the shotgun and the Saints offense continued to run screen passes and over the middle slants. Brees continued to shoot for the endzone. The question for me is this. Where the hell was Karma? She is supposed to be a ***** but last night she must of figured the Saints would simply run out the clock and call it a night. If she had stayed awake a little longer maybe she would have felt empowered to see Brees knocked to the ground and carted off the field. Not a long term injury but a week or two to say, “Hey dumbass injuries happen!” The Jets know this all too well. Even later in the game the Saints brought Dolphins killer Darren Sproles back onto the field and sent him to the endzone on a draw. He fumbled the ball back to Miami. Not that it matters but why was he even in the game? Because the Saints wanted more than the 35 points they already had. The Denver Broncos nailed Philadelphia with 52 points but at least Peyton Manning slept through the fourth quarter on the sidelines. What I don’t get is this. Why would any team risk injuring a key member of their team for some extra work? There is no reward in another TD and no team reward for padding a QB’s stats. Yet that is exactly what Sean Payton did last night. It was classless and perhaps shouldn’t be taken as a slap to the Miami Dolphins as much as his disdain to the NFL for his 2012 suspension. Regardless, the Saints will get theirs if they continue that line of thinking and it may eventually cost them games that mean something more than a week 4 win. Risking the health of your starters for meaningless stats is ridiculous. Read more: Saints Show Little Class In Win - Phin Phanatic - A Miami Dolphins Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more. |
Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
See what happened when New England took their foot off the gas Sunday?
The guy who wrote this? Screw him. I wanted the starters out too, but I ABSOLUTELY understand the reasoning behind keeping them in the game and not letting up. Letting up causes two things: 1) Injuries 2) Losses The guy who wrote this? Screw him. |

Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
We can't run the ball ...
|
Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
We started running the ball and miami showed that they hadn't thrown in the towel by calling time-outs, so we cranked the offense back up again. We had first down right under the goal post and went to a knee after they had exhausted their time outs.

Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
What about Miami O line players talking smack with our D line while down a couple of TDs?
Does that show class (or common sense, for that matter)??? |
Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
LOL, what a dweeb.

Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
Check out the comments section. All the Dolphins fans are bagging on this stupid writer and calling him "whiny" and "sore loser." ha ha ha

Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
This guy is an idiot and the article sucks,he is just whining. That being said he does have a point about the injury. I wish we would pull Brees when we get that far ahead late in the game. Especially with the way the line has been playing.

Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
Say we end in a tie when we play Seattle. It could absolutely come down to points scored and points allowed for Home Field at some point in a playoff race is how I see it. Same goes for Denver and the Pats so crushing opponents in the NFL is actually encouraged. If you want the NFL to be classy then do an article on their rules.

Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
Why didn't Miami pull their starters so none of them would be injured playing in a game they couldn't win?
|
Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
I agree with poydras and yea, everyone else here.
MDolphs could have easily comeback. The Saints have done this before. I agree with you guys, pulling starters is fine but it really is a gamble at a certain point lead. If it were some crazy point lead like 27 pts., ok. The guy who wrote this article is (*&7 %$#. |

The Dolphins had done absolutely nothing in last night's game to make me think for a second that they would win. They weren't play the falcants again!! |
Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
With ticket prices where they are, and extremely limited opportunities for the fan....Hell with 'em. I pay good money to watch the best of my team, not to scale it back. Most decent folks aren't afforded the luxury of getting the chance at more than a game or two. Besides, they are professionals...stop us or pound sand.

Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
If you don't want the other team to score stop them.. Not our fault they couldn't
|
Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
Nobody said that when peyton "jughead" manning and the broncos dropped 52 points on phillys 20. All they said was they got the best team in football.

Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
Good point bob.
Dude, so true. WD, waht I meant is that it was not a big, huge, gigantic lead in which the Saints could have rested starters, relaxed, and let their guard down. Like someone here said, MDophs still had some game in themselves. They did not quit. Why should the Saints have quit. The article by this <>>)( ^%$ man, and our posts makes a good separate thread really. When should starters be pulled and shut down? Depends on point spread and what quarter. |
Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
Playing to win the game and keeping your foot on the gas the whole time is not classless. Classless is spiking the ball, mocking the other team, kicking them in the nuts, and doing all sorts of tacky things...none of which we did. We just won, straight up no chaser.
In other words, the guy who wrote this? Screw him. |
Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
How can this punk talk about class and at the same time wish an injury to a player? What a POS.

Late to the thread and seeing much of my initial @#$%! already covered, Old Maid's observation on when do you pull the starters? immediately caught my attention. When do you pull 'em? Who pulls their starting QB with an 18pt lead and 5 minutes left in the game? Not me. That's only 3 scores, bub ... ever see what some of these NFL teams do with 5 minutes left on the clock? If I had the time and the inclination, I'd research any number of NFL games to see exactly how many teams have pulled their starting QBs with an 18pt lead and 5 minutes left, except I already know from experience not many do, and even then, it's only for a snap-or-two. Comparing Saints/Dolphins to Broncos/Eagles is just nonsense ... Manning would have remained in that game at an 18pt lead with only 5 minutes left, for shizzle. I watched the game, I didn't see anything out of the ordinary ... disgruntled Dolphin fan just got his dreams of another 1972 season crushed ... that's all,. They say 'success is the best revenge' ... "mission accomplished" WhoDats,. |
Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
Injuries happen when you take your foot off the peddle and the odd game will be yhrown away.Go out and score as many points as you can.Sports is entertainment and if you are paying big bucks for tickets i want my 60mins of entertaiment not 50 mins cause my team has a 15pt lead.

Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
Karma was there. It's called bountygate repercussions. Go whine to goodell about putting the best offensive mind in football an a mission.

Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
Polysemantic personalities do not believe in God but rather put their faith in Karma... One of the most illogical traits Ive come across in this life.
It has not been pointed out yet that if Tannehill has stopped giving us the ball we would have scored less. |
Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
@$$clown
We couldn't run against that front line, and long-time Saints fans have watched many leads evaporate... |
Re: Saints Show Little Class In Win
Nothing in the "analysis" by this distinguished writer identifies or suggests anything but honest effort and desire to win within the rules and no extra-curricular activities (like talk, or play beyond the whistle, or illegal hits).
I do admire his ability to whine. The world needs more whiners. |
