Hopefully, what the team will take away from this loss is the opportunity to work on weak spots.

Defense must do better when facing a hurry-up offense. They were caught flat-footed on some plays and flagged for illegal substitution or 12 men a few times.

Offense must come up with a way to get downfield receivers in open space. Frequently Brees is throwing to guys that are tightly covered sometimes double or triple covered. Despite some success with deep passes and screens, I hate that, more than usual, our passing attack shrinks to dump passes and check downs.

With Graham neutralized, we only managed to complete 5 passes to a WR, 3 of those to Stills.
Meanwhile, NE did not have Gronk yet completed 4 passes to his backup and 18 passes to their wideouts yesterday.

It stings to lose the way we did but considering we were 5 seconds from beating a hall of fame qb, a hall of fame coach, a well coached team and at their place...I can live with it.

2 things I would like to see fixed though. When we made our comeback in the second half it was because of the run game. For some reason we got away from that after we tied up the game and I think it cost us. It's almost as if the coaching staff thought it was too good to be true and got away from it a little bit

The second thing I would like fixed is all the free releases we were giving to wideouts. The patriots have been a dink and donk team for a while now. The worst thing you can do is give a team like that 5 and 10 yard cushions.

All in all, the most important thing about this loss is how we respond after it. That will tell us more about this team than the actual loss itself.
