Which direction does the football bounce?

People boast and speculate, worry and talk smack, argue and rationalize. At the end of every Sunday night there are shockers, and disappointments for all fans. Analysts usually have no better accuracy picking games than 65% and fans generally are about the same.

The game is as predictable as the bounce of the oblong spheroid that it is played with, this is why I do not panic or worry, I wait and watch the game.

If you think you have a clue explain to me how you KNEW beforehand that at the end of week 7 the Colts W/L would look like this, then make sense of it.

Colts beat - Broncos, 49ers, Seahawks

Lose to - Chargers, Dolphins

Now try and explain it while saying Denver, 49ers, and Seahawks are all that and should be feared by fans while being held in reverence as nearly unstoppable.. You cant.

We "think" we know that Matt Ryan is as good as he is because of his supporting cast of Jones/White/Gonzo/Jackson then he takes Harry Douglas and emerges from the TB game making Douglas/J. Rodgers look like a super stars and Ryan having the best game of this season.

Payton Manning goes into Dallas and looks no better than Tony Romo a few weeks ago, only to have the Eagles make Romo look non existent. This week the Colts make P. Manning look average with a 59% completion rate.

Yesterday the Texans #1 ranked pass defense gets fairly picked apart by Alex Smith, while KC's defense makes Keenum look better than Schaub.

Points being... Dont get your panties in a knot over who we play each week based off of what they did the previous week or season and the Colts W/L record actually blows Power Rankings into non existence.

So lighten up Lucy and enjoy the season for what it is, an unpredictable string of 22 weeks where we haven't a clue what the end of will look like.

Re: Which direction does the football bounce?

Now in my defense I do not look for Power Rankings other than this week just to see how much sens they do not make and to prove my point.

Bleacher Report
Saints -1 ON A BYE WEEK!
Seahawks -1 in a Win
Broncos -2
Colts +7
Chargers +5 (Beat Jacksonville) WTF?

Re: Which direction does the football bounce?

I'm not really sure about a football.....but a rugby ball will generally take a bounce up on the third bounce. Well above any 65% average.

Watch fumbles, missed punt and kick off catches and tell me you have a chance to guess which direction it is going each time it hits the ground. Only squib kicks can be predicted with any reasonable accuracy and that is with a lot of practice and a specific person kicking it... Even then it doesn't always work out well.
