Loomis' remarks create a buzz
Although questioning the timing of General Manager Mickey Loomis' public criticism, Saints coach Jim Haslett on Wednesday vowed coaches and players "would get this thing turned around."
The Saints have dropped to 2-3 after losing consecutive games to previously winless opponents Arizona and Tampa Bay the past two weeks. On Monday, Loomis said that he would not be afraid to make coaching and personnel changes if the season doesn't get turned around. "I don't know if the timing was right when you're 2-3, but the message is understood," said Haslett, whose current contract runs through the 2006 season and pays him approximately $3 million annually. "I think it would have been better served if it was (said) later in the year. "I understand the business, and I think this is just part of the business. I know the players and the coaches are in it together, and we'll be on board together. That's the most important thing to me." http://www.nola.com/saints/t-p/index...8541301600.xml |
