Re: If Brees was traded
That's generous - who would be the two? The Bucs were not the Sucs when we played them - they still had some fight. Same goes for the Clowns. No, without Brees and with anyone else we currently have as QB we are in the Bucs/Jags situation - probably 1-8 with a squeaker over the Bills - MAYBE |

Re: If Brees was traded
I dont buy into the whole "under the wing" cr4p science.
Starting QBs are game planning, no time for a lot of tutelage. Watching an elite QB play gives nothing to a rookie. How many non NFL QBs have watched hours and hours of Brees, Manning, Brady play and stink it up every Sunday? |

Trade Drew Brees? Yikes!
As far as Payton leaving someday...it is ironic that the Saints just put a big ol' nail in Garrett's coffin. It is my opinion that we all better hope that the Boys do a lot better from here on out. Off track, but I gotta know. Danno...you still think Morstead wasn't worth that or those picks we gave up. Just curious. |

Re: If Brees was traded
Elite QB's are rare and difficult to find. Too many teams have struggled for years b/c they don't have a very good QB much less an Elite one. We have an Elite QB and he is one of the hardest working players in the NFL, spending countless hours with receivers after practice to work on routes and timing etc. Its not Drew's fault that Nick Toon can't catch a cold.

Re: If Brees was traded
Don't we already have a QB we're sitting to mentor under Brees, that was acquired this very year? We even cut a player to prevent him from getting poached, why would we now go for a first round player?

They are running opposing offenses against our defense so that our Defense has something to practice against weekly. They are on the side lines throwing to non-starting receivers while Drew works with the starters... If your theory is correct then you need to state examples. Rodgers looks nothing like Favre, Brady does not resemble Drew Bledsoe. Who is Jim Sorgi? Yep.. You don't know either. He was BU QB behind Payton Manning for 4-5 years, and in 2010 he was only good enough to make the Giants practice squad. Where is Curtis Painter after sitting under Payton Manning? How many good NFL QBs can you list that have sat under Tom Brady? Sorry brother, it sounds good in theory but it just doesn't work out that way. Your great QBs come into the league ready to play, they usually beat out the starter to take the job or jump right into the fire. |

Re: If Brees was traded
I do think we go after a legit starting QB in this years draft. I dont know if Tulane boy is really the answer. He may be a good backup, but thats about it. One thing is for sure, whoever we get will have some mighty big shoes to fill. We wont be over losing Brees for years.
