How much will Harper help our run D
He takes a lot of slack (sometimes legit) for his pass coverage skills but when it comes to defending the run he is very good. Do you think he is the missing piece we need to shore that end of our D up?

Re: How much will Harper help our run D
Our run D was ranked 10th or so when Harper was healthy, it has fallen(22nd) steady since he's been injured.
I think that answers your question... |

Re: How much will Harper help our run D
It'll certainly help. He's a beast down in the box and I expect he'll let a few running backs know he's there. I think one guy can only do so much though. The problem starts at the line, and I think the biggest problem with the D line has been lack of depth due to injuries. Hopefully with some of them getting healthy now they'll be able to keep these guys fresh, and find the right combination of players to be most efficient at stopping the run.
In spite of the poor run defense, and the fact that they've been giving up a few more points lately, I still think this defense is playing really well. By this time of year offenses are hitting their stride and defenses are mostly just trying to keep up. The eye popping amount of long term injuries we've had on D have made keeping up a lot harder to do. Now I'll grant you that they have the occasional oh-my-god breakdown, like the end of the Patriots game.. but that's gonna happen sometimes. Definitely think fresh bodies will help overall play though. |

Re: How much will Harper help our run D
Our three safety set was the key. We've declined since Harper was hurt.
