Re: Rick Venturi!
He did a few shows here. He was absolutely fantastic on the radio. He was very entertaining, witty, humorous and knows his X's and O's.
I've always thought he had a future in broadcasting if he wanted it. |

Re: Rick Venturi!
Reminds me of Matt Millen. You listen to him and think "This guy really know's his stuff."

They play at a much higher level than all of us do. Some confuse lack of success with not knowing X's and O's, and what went right and what went wrong. |

But when he was doing those national broadcasts on Westwood One, where you can flesh out the conversation, and talk to a deeper, more intelligent audience, he really shined. He caught not only Xs and Os, but mental dealings, and just a lot of fascinating insight on the sidelines, and some great stories too. Whats even more amazing is that the same grating voice you hear on NFL Films, translated fantasticly on am-radio. (I'm a 30 year radio voice myself, and I like the way I sound on am- radio better) I thought Stram sounded great on am radio, where you need to be a little larger than life. |

Re: Rick Venturi!
I was a huge fan of Pat Kerwin and Tim Ryan, they both had insight from different perspectives. Tim has moved on but I do still listen to Pat.

Rick always seemed like a cerebral guy. As my old PE coach use to say though, it's hard to soar like an eagle when you are surrounded by Turkeys.
