A win is a win, but...

Man, there were some real bonehead plays in that game.
Brees telegraphed and gift-wrapped that int, plus the IG
Moore with the 3rd down drop and then fumble
Corey White... well...

the niners had some drops, clock problems and real stupidity- CK goes out of bounds, the helmet to Brees instead of a TO, and the interfere on Sproles' fair catch

and what was with the conservative, heart attack inducing drive at the end?
Yes, Hartley screwed it in by at least 2 feet, but still...

oh well, end of the day, Great Win

Re: A win is a win, but...

33 yards on offence, 17 pts, because moore fumbles on the 5, bad interference call for 3, and a pick for 7 more. SF sucks and needs this to win. They cant win on their own.

Re: A win is a win, but...

all they count at the end of the year is W's and L's, never style points. I share your frustration, but damn it feels good to come out on the right end!

I am serious when I say that I truly believe their coach coaches them to complain for flags.

They do it on defense too, I mean they frigan cry alllll game both sides of the ball.

These are the games that great teams find ways to win. Defense was outstanding yet again!

Not "buts". San Francisco is a very good team, particularly their defense. No shame in this win...AT ALL.

Re: A win is a win, but...

Except for the fumble White played a solid game. The PI call was not his fault, that was a horrendous call. And that back shoulder throw to the front corner of the end zone is just about impossible to defend.

I am not super-excited to see White as the no. 2 corner but he seems better prepared for it than anybody else we got.

It was getting so bad in the second half I was starting to think they must bring in choreographers to practice in order to show them how to properly extend their arms in a downward V, palms toward the ref and with a firm tone shout, "Come one, ref!",.

The 'whiner' nickname is well-deserved, IMO.

Re: A win is a win, but...

I get frustrated with our very sloppy play and almost handing the game away.
But in the end, flubs, bad calls, penalties..........all that is part of the game.
We pulled this one out fair and square. The 49ers had the ball and failed miserably to move it.

We won. I'll take it.

BTW - that cross hook, neck collar swing at Drew was 100% the right call. The dude is a thug and swung at his neck. He really needed to be ejected and didn't need to do that at all. Just, again, whiners playin dirty.

Re: A win is a win, but...

We handed that team every single point they got. This should have been a blowout. The positive is that stupid mistakes can be corrected. There are also a ton of positives that came out of this game. IMO the O line did a near fantastic job protecting Drew and creating holes for most of the game against a VERY stout defense.
They are going to need to play like this for the rest of the season because Seattle and Carolina have very similar defenses. It was a good test and I was encouraged by it.
We are going to be going up against some pretty damn good defenses from here on out, even the Bucs are starting to hit pretty damn hard on that side of the ball.

The fact is that the 49ers are a very physical and dangerous team. They seem to have our number most times but not today.

Defense dominated the 4th quarter. This is their win.

I thought the boys slugged it out with 'em pretty well ... better than the two previous meetings anyway,.

Did I see them flash a 4rthQtr offensive stat, Saints-114yds/Niners-2yds? I thought I may have not read it right, but if that was the case, it's certainly a testimony to the defense,.

Oh my god, the whining goes on for, like, 10 pages about ONE call!!

Also, calling people "F*g" or some variation of it needs to stop. It's ridiculous and horrible. And if you'd think one city's fanbase would understand that, it would be SAN FRANCISCO!

SaintsBro 11-17-2013 07:53 PM

I am very sorry to the original poster, that the team did not live up to your high expectations, by beating the team that very nearly won the Super Bowl last year.

hehehe ... it's already blossomed to 361 pages ... Post #5401 - "Resign Kap now. Avoid the rush. Pay him whatever he wants as long as he can kiss his bicep. ... in just 61 pages they went from blaming the refs to turning on their quarterback ... priceless,.

AGREE

seems fans and team are alike. How can they possibly cry about the calls in that game?

Agreed, that was absolutely the right call ... the instant replay showed Drew's helmet/head almost being taken off. Had that been Suh, it would of been two-games/$50k and a trip to the Commissioner's Office ... SFran got off light, IMO,.

I do think Hill was about to after his TD, but went with the straightforward muscleman instead

This was great win. The 49ers are the best team we've played so far. It would have been easy to lose it in the 4th qtr. but we played just right.

Kaep isn't ready. He'll be a good QB someday. But not today.

I think Corey will play good, plus with two 6ft Corners who can play press coverage I wouldn't be surprised to see RR dial up the blitz's more.

Unfortunately that word gets thrown around way to much in here as well.

Defense played top notch.
The running game got carried forward to this week - I'm impressed.
If we played a cleaner game, we blow these guys out.
Mistakes were made against a good team and we overcame them.
A GOOD win against a quality team.

Re: A win is a win, but...

I love beating a punk team. Kaepernick trying to get Vernon Davis to dunk on the goal post after his TD is telling. Can you imagine Brees doing the same thing?

Terrific win. The Niners and the Cowboys lose to the Saints in two straight weeks. BEAUTIFUL.

Re: A win is a win, but...

Pierre deserves some huge props for his play today. He is an amazing football player. I was not impressed with Moore today. That dropped return was F'd up. He needs to practice that sh*t and lose the mo.

We almost beat ourselves today with all the TOs and penalties. Dayum.....but good win against a good team. I was surprised how well our offense played against that D.

I thought the officiating was equally biased.

I think they do more than that, while it has gotten them many wins because of it, I believe they teach techniques of tackling that is most prone to cause injury to.

Impressive whatever it was. II am not finding the actual figures but I reckon for the full 4th quarter it may have been Saints 172 yds, 49ers 8 yds.
By any standard, incredible.

Harbaugh is one of those "find a way to get the deed done within the rules/always living in the grey area" kind of coaches ... just sayin'. Is there any other coach in the NFL that tries to influence the refs from the sidelines more?

Anything can occur in a game. Excellent, Good, So-so, Bad, Goddamn awful. No matter how much skill and endeavour, the opposition is there o upset that. It is what it is.
The outcome is everything. A win is a Win. That means all is good.

Re: A win is a win, but...

I hate this team more than Atlanta and that's saying a lot. Prima Frigging donna's and that coach has to top the list. Game shouldn't have been close like that. Hartley surprised me glad he kept it together. Some of those calls and stupidity almost did us in. I was so happy they sent the Whinner's back to that sucky town with a loss.

Re: A win is a win, but...

the niners make you pay for any miscue. you need perfect football to soundly beat them if you can.

saints got lucky but they also proved that they can over come screw ups on both sides of the ball and they also are in the class of a team that you need to play solid near perfect football to beat them.

this was in book a typical niners and saints game. smash mouth all the way.

So many more questions than answers after this game... But so glad we pulled it out.

- rob..... Phenomenal called game except for one play.... I think he called and all out blitz on the play where gore was ..........WIDE......... open but couldn't catch the ball if he catches that game over.... But otherwise well called game.

- what do we do about Greer. I'm certain his season is over....I'm so sorry for him but it looked horrible. I like white as the two, but beyond Lewis, and white we gotta get some outside help.

- o line...... You do realize that drew cant keep this gettin pummeled thing up right.

- miscues..... I have no doubt these are the first thing to get rectified..... Lance and sproles have both dropped punts this year..., any more drops back on punts and I'll think bush was back in the backfield......

Jenkins got burned biting on play action on the Davis TD otherwise D was excellent.
Need to run the ball more, Drew was nailed on a 3rd and 2, why are we looking for a big play when 2 yards is all you need?
Lance was thrown in at last minute due to Sproles being shaken up on the punt return. Can see when not practicing catching punts in the dome pregame can effect you with the lights. Big difference from practice field to inside the dome but he is a pro.
