wonder if it's late enough that we can get Reddick or Griffin through waivers and on to PS, freeing up a roster spot

So by my math thats 8 weeks from now. Thats a lot of time if he's actually practicing now.

I remember reading that he has been making football moves and in football shape for over a month and the only thing he hadn't been doing during rehab was hitting (obviously). I think he comes back soon maybe he even gets activated against the Hawks on Monday night.

No chance. Now is the time non-contenders would clear the bottom of their roster in a heartbeat to pick up a player like griffin.

Victor Butler back at practice

We won't see him on the field until late in the playoffs at best.

Doing football moves is one thing, doing them with 325 pounds of lineman on you is a whole different level of strength.

Perhaps, but if he weren't as ready as we suspect then why bring him into practice? Is there a deadline that they had to make? I know that because he was at practice he needs to be activated off of the PUP in 21 days. I know you could activate him to the 53 and carry him until he is ready, but why kick the 21 day timer into effect unless you thought he could be ready?

They had to by today. Or call him done for the season.

Today was the last day to start practicing or go to IR. but again, you don't start practicing unless he's ready to.
I say it's about 50/50 that he play this year. I wouldn't rule him out especially since he didn't think it was that serious of an injury, disputed the decision and got a 2nd opinion.

Decision on Victor Butler by Tuesday - New Orleans Saints Blog - ESPN

Well that changes my line of thinking then.

Being that they must give him a try you never know what kind of shape he is in. Although I read a month or so ago he was in 'football' shape but that's speculative. I linked the article in a post about it a while back and I don't feel like digging for it.
